My idol, after years of injuries his finally showing why we bought him. Reason for him being my idol is that we share the same career in some way. I'm 19 years old and just when I was being called to our first team here in my boyhood club in Sweden (at the age of 16) I got injured and after one and half year injured I'm finally finding my way back and just got called to out first team again. I love Delph and his passion for football. Really happy that I got the opportunity to meet him!

Classic MOTD - absolutely no analysis for the game today, so Delph gets no mention in the presence of Woy.

TBF their was not an awful lot to anaylze in that game was poor by both teams. Think it is a bit early to be banging the England drum for Delph just yet.

I'd like to see him play further up the pitch, Think he could prove to be a real threat. Besides he looks like the only midfielder capable at creating something going forward at the moment. If not pushing him further up the pitch, give him the freedom to burst forward a lot more.

           Gabby - Benteke
                   Delph
                KEA- Sylla
Luna-Baker-Clark-Vlaar-Bacuna

Is something I'd personally like to see being tried out, I'm sure you'll be able to find some weakness in this. I'm no tactician :D

The concept of the formation is fine if Luna and Bacuna push up and play as wing backs. To be more attacking I'd have Weimann in for Sylla. Delph would not play that attacking midfield role but hes still great box to box.

Wasn't he mainly an attacking player in his leeds days?? I also agree that he should be given an atracking role with sylla / KEA / Westy behind him. Just needs that first goal which I think is around the corner.

Really pushing on though this season, happy for him.

From a selfish PoV I'd rather Delph not being called up for England as he'd ended up having his head turned by some rocket polisher such as StevieG.

Yes it happens all the time. One good game for England and all the media will be saying he needs to play for a top 6 side.

Delph is a rarity in the era of midfield specialists - a combative midfielder with impressive dribbling skills. He currently ranks among the top 10 players in the Premier League for tackles, interceptions and dribbles, doing a defensive job for his team, while also providing the thrust that helps make Villa such a threat on the counter-attack.

Delph winning the ball then driving forward with it has been a feature of our matches so far.

Typically your defensive mid will win the ball then look to play a safe pass immediately. With Delph he often makes a forward run creating an advantage in numbers on the attack.

If he could develop a knack for assisting (or scoring) goals as well he would be the complete midfielder.
