Goals and assist is what he will be judged on. my problem is that wasn't what he was judged on when he was with us grealish has very set metrics for which he has been world class, chances created, expected assists, carries, carries in to the opponent penalty area - these are stats that during his time with us he topped the PL and was up there with neymar and messi across europe man city didn't pay £100m for his goals, if you want to know his drop off then those are the metrics you should be looking at and I'm pretty sure his expected assists was the highest in the CL last year

Part of why he excelled at that is everything went through him. Smith has even admitted Grealish was given zero instructions or tactics. That's never going to be the case at a top club. Best managers like Emery and Pep all have sysems which players have to operate within.

Bit of an odd comparison. Grealish should be compared to the likes of Bale, Sterling etc. He is a forward. Goals and assist is what he will be judged on. Except he wasn't judged on that when he was here, we all defended him on that very issue because we saw what he brought to the team despite his lack of output. Yet now those same fans are using those metrics to bash him

Would stay in the team no matter what. With expectation comes pressure With pressure comes nervousness. Top players will excel from that pressure. Other will not be able to handle it. All about the mentality of the player. Grealish gets into survival mode and plays it safe rather than take risk and play with confidence.

He didn’t have much output in the championship and he was our best player and captain. The pressure on him there was huge. Anyway, the comment wasn’t really about Jack. It was more of a general point about output not being the be all and end all if you offer more elsewhere

Don't perform there and you're out of the team. At Villa he could put in 10 dead performances and still be in the team. Look at Odegaard at Real Madrid. Was a season after his second loan where Zidane put him in for a few consecutive games. He didn't perform and was reduced to the bench the following matches.
