Czechlad
Just saw the league table and I just wonder, how can anyone enjoy that? Bayern are 20 points clear of Dortmund. Plus Bayern will be getting Lewandowski in the summer. They are clearly the best team in the league. It seems so boring. At least in England there are maybe 3-4 clubs that could win the title each year but in Germany, it seems that Bayern is really the only club that can win it. villa4europe
but if that bayern team was in the prem would we be sat here saying anyone could take points off them any weekend? i cant see them being shocked by the likes of stoke they'd smash every league in europe and this 3/4 clubs that can win the league, not really, by 30 games most years we are down to 2 teams in the running, even this year everyone is still predicting city and chelsea will pull clear

So 3 different teams at least in the running in a given year, and Liverpool are up there as well this year. The reason bayern are so amazing is they can cherry pick the best players from every side in their league. There's no such club in England, because a few different teams compete for those players. The_Rev
but if that bayern team was in the prem would we be sat here saying anyone could take points off them any weekend? It's a moot point though, isn't it? If Bayern were in the Premier League then they almost certainly wouldn't have been able to build the team they currently have. Same applies to Real Madrid and Barcelona.
VillaChris
A league isn't always about the title race, There have been plenty of boring PL title races (Man. United romped it last season despite not being amazing). how about who's going to get the other three champions league places. Probably Dortmund but the other two are pretty open. And the big story will be at the bottom. Hamburg, a club who've never been relegated, are in serious danger of going down. You also have Sttugart level on points with them and Bremen are a few points clear of them but don't win many games themselves. It won't happen but it's still feasible the season could end with a bottom two of Hamburg, Stuttgart and Bremen in the play offs. You're talking of two relative recent bundesliga winners and Hamburg who have badly underachieved for years but were still in the champions league a few years ago. VillaChris
Munich don't win it every year though! Dortmund won it in 11 and 12, Wolfsburg won it in 2009, Stuttgart won it in 2007 and Leverkusen really should've won that year they made the CL final in 2002. What I like about the Bundesliga aswell is there's always different teams in the champions league or competiting to get in it....Werder Brem were in there 2010, Hamburg were in it recently, Gladbach qualified but couldn't win the play off the other season, Wolfsburg were in there 2009, Stuttgart beat Man. United in it a few years back. Lots of different variety we just don't get in the prem with it being the two Manchester clubs, Liverpool and Arsenal and Chelsea with maybe a token challenge from Spurs or Everton. Rovers13
I guess the big difference is the 4-6 clubs in the prem can afford to buy and keep really good players like vertonghen, Suarez, Baines, etc whereas in Germany or Spain they mostly can't.

samjp26
He still dived though.. His explanation after the game is that his natural instinct was to play for the penalty, but after doing it he regretted it and did not want the penalty. Fair play IMO. GarethRDR
Yann Sommer confirmed to be joining 'Gladbach in the, well, summer. Ter Stegen's departure confirmed as well. Still got Uwe Kamps to train up those super-torwarts though, plus a far more pressing matter is this cata-feckin'-strophic post-winterpause collapse in form. GarethRDR
Yeah, as far as replacements go I'm pretty happy. Out of all the mooted 'keepers. the only one I might have had ahead of Sommer would be Kevin Trapp.
Guest av1
http://uk.soccerway.com/news/2014/March/12/beckenbauer-concerned-by-barca-esque-bayern/n269119/ Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer says the club's tactics are becoming unwatchable. The former captain and manager, known as Der Kaiser, was unimpressed with their performance after the Bundesliga club knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League. "In the end, it'll be like Barcelona, unwatchable," he said, referring to Bayern manager Pep Guardiola's previous team and their tiki-taka passing game. "They will pass the ball back even on the goal-line." Edited March 12, 2014 by av1
