Will that qualify as a whitewash? Or will it not be a whitewash because of Australia not winning all five of the matches? They have to win all five

And if the fifth test gets rained out too then we'll 'only' lose 3-0. Progress. (A bit better than the last two, 4-0 and 5-0).
sidcow Posted January 5, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted January 5, 2022 Actually looking at the weather forecast it's going to be very shitty in Sydney for the next few days. Lot of rain and lots of thunderstorms. So much for a long hot summer down under!
OutByEaster? Posted January 5, 2022 Moderator Share Posted January 5, 2022 They should have put us in to bat. We'd be out now and they'd have a fairer idea of what they'd need to do in the sunny bits. Batting first means they'll get all relaxed and put a completely unnecessary 450 on.
robby b
They might get another first innings 400 and something, like in the first two matches, or they might get 200 and something, like in the last one. Anyway maybe the rain will save us this time. I soon realised I can't do Sidcow's magnificently costumed rain dancer's rain dance as well as she can, it's tricky: hopping on one foot while spinning round backwards.
sidcow Posted January 5, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted January 5, 2022 I'm off to bed. This pair look like getting 100 each. Bowlers look miles away from event testing them.
Eidolon
I personally think Khawaja is wasted giving competition to Head at 5, I’d have him open in place of Harris. The sad thing is it’s very unlikely he’ll get to bat out enough to win his place in the side with the weather. OutByEaster? Posted January 6, 2022 Moderator Share Posted January 6, 2022 So, if you're Australia, given the weather forecast and time remaining, how long do you bat here?
robby b
We're gonna need a lot of rain.
OutByEaster? Posted January 6, 2022 Moderator Share Posted January 6, 2022 Malan is bowling. Australia are 200-3. We're going to need three days of rain.
chappy
Got up to watch it and Smith gets out as I’ve turned the tv on. Khawaja looks like an inevitable hundred though. If Stokes isn’t going to bowl for the rest of this match, the second innings isn’t going to be fun (if we can get enough runs to make the second innings matter of course…) Green gone! Could do with one of those Broad spells here.

chappy
Really is a killer that Cummins and Starc add 50+ between them every time whereas our 8-11 consistently crumble.
Rodders
Khawaja in one inning has more runs than all England batters save root and Japan in their six innings. 20 minutes to bat. At least two wickets down I guess.
lapal_fan
Cricket in Australia is so boring compared to most places around the world. Flat, dull pitches everywhere. And yet, we have no batsmen to bat on them lol.
OutByEaster? Posted January 6, 2022 Moderator Share Posted January 6, 2022 Congratulations to England's openers on an impressive unbeaten stand of 13 at the end of the day. If they keep this up, we may even get the opportunity to bowl again in this match.

robby b
Hameed 2, Crawley 2, Extras 9. Extras going well this time, it might be the top scorer in this innings.
