It's not really a birthday cake as such (no icing or candles, etc.), but the tradition at work is to bring in buns or cakes on one's birthday. This usually means a few boxes of doughnuts from Morrisons', but I thought I'd go the extra mile. I've made that cake loads of times - it's the only thing I've ever baked - and the recipe is pretty damned idiot-proof. It's also mega-delicious. To include - Pointe de Vouasson, Pigne d'Arolla and then the biggie, Mont Blanc. It's costing over £2k, maybe closer to £3k once I've bought all the kit.
