There was one summer when Burt Weedon was doing a summer season at the local Butlins but staying in the hotel I worked at. He only liked custard cremes, so I used to always make sure he had double helpings of complimentary biscuits, and they were always custard cremes. On the regular, he’d give me a tip of 50p or even a pound if he saw me, then he’d do that tapping his nose thing like we had a secret deal going on. Is it particularly woke (in the disparaging way some use it) to acknowledge a hospital that helped those affected by the aids pandemic?
