Wainy316
Parents arrive in Korea today for a 10 day visit. Should be great. One of my female middle school students came into to school in a Villa Nike jacket, but I quized her on it and she had no idea what it was. I spent the next few minutes explaining but I don't think she was too interested.

AVFC_Hitz
Can someone explain the basic disadvantages of a credit card? I'm getting my first one soon and I just want the basic pros and cons. I'm not interested in whether I can transfer my KNUSPA balance to my DPB allowance at a rate of 5.4% Thankyou all.
TheDon
Can someone explain the basic disadvantages of a credit card? You can spend money you don't have and don't have a hope of paying back. Other than that, credit cards are awesome as long as you understand the different charges. For instance cash withdrawals usually have the highest rates, and when you make payments you always pay off the lower rates first, so you'll pay down on 0% purchases before the 30% cash withdrawal. AVFC_Hitz
I initially want it because I wanted to buy a television. In Turkey you can pay in installments on your credit card at no interest.
TheDon
You can here, most cards have 90 days interest free on purchases. I'd definitely make any major purchase on a credit card, the benefits of it (increased protection) far outweigh any risks as long as you don't see a credit card as a money supply. There are plenty around at the moment with 12 months interest free on purchases.

I'm not interested in whether I can transfer my KNUSPA balance to my DPB allowance at a rate of 5.4% Thankyou all. basic disadvantage: you are short of money for what you desire. so you buy it on credit. this proved easy and convenient. paying back for the thing you couldn't afford leaves you short of cash. so you buy a higher proportion of your desirable shit on credit. this increases your payments. this reduces your available cash. some people high up in financialism shout 'hey! the emperor is naked'. the world gets fwked over for several years. This loan will have to be paid back, with interest and charges for late payments etc. However convenient and easy a credit card is, compared to taking a bank loan or similar, always bear in mind, taking a loan is what you are doing. It is not cash!
