uncy_chris
Arsenal didn't really play a reserve side last night... perhaps Wenger is taking things a bit more seriously this season in the hope of actually winning some silverware for the first time in years. Qwpzxjor1
Depends what you count as a reserve team. It was a bloody good team, but I'd say it was still largely reserve team. Arsenal have had that for some time. Their reserve team is strong enough to be a Premiership team in it's own right - but that doesn't win you trophies. The League Cup is their best shot, especially with less competition this year. If Wenger really cared about winning the League Cup he wouldn't have put out that team away to Newcastle though. Reserve keeper. No Nasri, Arshavin or Chamakh. No Fabregas, Wilshere (banned), Vermaellen (injured) or Clichy... Arsenal's squad last night, how many of these are first team? * 53 Szczesny - no * 06 Koscielny - yes * 20 Djourou - no * 27 Eboue - no * 28 Gibbs (Sagna 19 yellow card) - Gibbs not yet, Sagna yes * 40 Eastmond - no * 07 Rosicky - no * 14 Walcott - not with Nasri on this form * 15 Denilson - perhaps * 11 Vela (Fabregas 70) - Vela no, Fabregas yes * 52 Bendtner (Emmanuel-Thomas 84) - no and no
jonno_2004
I find it hard to laugh at them, at least until we meet at Villa Park Very much this, they're a recently promoted mickey mouse club that thrashed us - disgrace.
LondonLax
Wenger has said before both rounds this year that he is taking the carling cup seriously for a change.
AVFC-Prideofbrum
Newcastle had just much of a reserve team out than Arsenal. Koscielny, Djourou, Eboue, Gibbs, Rosicky, Walcott, Denilson, Vela, Bendtner, are all very good players. Especially Walcott, Koscielny, Rosicky, Gibbs. Eboue, Denilson, Bendtner all plenty of first team action while Vela and Djourou are players are good enough for a lot of Premiership sides. AshVilla
Is it the fans who want rid of Hughton or the board? if its the fans you would have thought they learnt their lesson with allardyce they would have never gone down with him in charge imo yet they had ideas above their station got king kev in and deservedly went down. The_Rev
Football Weekly claim that Hughton is the lowest paid manager in the Premier League, earning just £250,000k a year.
CarewsEyebrowDesigner
Pfft, disgraceful. How on earth to the board live with themselves knowing their manager earns such a measly sum.
AshVilla
id manage then for 125k a year on a 4 year contract. The fans would want me out after a week in charge easy money

Villan4Life
That defensive midfielder they picked up for half a mil look pretty decent, Cheikh Tiote, had a couple of solid games for them, hope Houllier finds players similar to this for us in Jan
