this is the way to spunk money tbh.

as far as im aware, signing academy/youth players dont count towards FFP, so if NSWE have a few tens of millions burning a hole in their pocket, sign up all the good youth we can find, if only 1 in 50 have any chance to make it to the first team, thats 1 player for the first team (at some point), and FFP profit over time on the rest (and obviously the 49/50 who dont make it, get top notch training, development, support etc, so get the best chance of reaching their ceiling and eventually a good move to another club).

win/win all round tbh.

They really don't like this......

"Get yower oowon academy yow vile b@stards"

Looking at their forums, many are fuming, but the smarter ones are noting that £1m ain't chump change for a 16 year old who isn't even a scholar yet, and that their finances are such that they can't br turning that kind of money down.

This player will go to the academy and therefore not count if they go anywhere but the academy such as the reserve team then it counts.

TBH we need a geek to fully explain this

Be interesting to know the age range Hopcroft used to scout at. Then we can let the Baggies know when we will stop buying their youngsters as they will all be in the Villa academy to start with.

Gotta give it to the Tesco bags, they do a good job at developing our youth players

A better job than we seem to do!
