bollocks. Even an average PL player is earning life changing money. **** every single one of them if that's not enough.

Well the same can be said of La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and even a lot of Ligue Un, Eredivisie and Championship players. They're all earning money most of us can only dream of.

Yet we know that the money the Prem can offer blows them all out of the water and that we can secure players above our recent standing in European Football as a result.

The Saudi's are playing the same game, just dialled up to 11.

It's a very valid point. Do you think Milan are happy about Bournemouth beating them to players?

Apart from a handful of clubs, most teams in La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 have seen us as the Saudi Arabia of football for a decade.

What the Saudi's are doing is distasteful in many aspects but in terms of money, they've just taken things to a whole new level. It doesn't even piss me off, I just find it funny.

That's only 1.3 Tommy Elphicks.

Call the deal off.

You have to carry the .5 mate.

Its 1.8 Tommy Elphicks.

But, as we all know, @TRO won't accept an inch less than 2.0 on the Elphick scale so this deal is indeed, off.

The average Premier League salary over a 10 year career is life changing money for multiple entire generations already.

Depends what you want to buy doesn't it.

What if you want to buy a yacht for £50m?

You don't need a yacht to change your life.

Difference is the English top flight league has pretty much always been a prestigious and significant competition to be part of.

To win the league in England is a big deal. It’s an impressive achievement. It’s always been that. Ok, the premier league’s revenue now dwarfs the other leagues, but the top flight of English football has always been considered one of THE leagues to be in - along with the likes of La Liga and Serie A.

The Saudi league does not have that prestige. It may do one day, but at the moment, it doesn’t.

So yes, it will be galling for AC Milan to lose their best players to Bournemouth, but they are losing them to a combination of money AND playing in a competition which has some historical worth.

For the likes of you and I yes but if a persons lifestyle has always been rich then it wouldn’t be.  People have a habit of living within/above their means.  The average footballer doesnt live in £200-500k houses and drive Corsa’s and holiday in Cornwall either.  Also these players are in their 20’s and probably don’t put as much away as they should.

You've obviously never been on a yacht.

That reminds me of the SNL sketch/music video

Well, if you hang out with people who have helicopters and play golf in exclusive resorts then you sort of need a yacht to take it up a notch.

No one is arguing they don't have enough money.

But what some seem to be missing, there is wealth, and then there are numerous levels above that.

Lionel Messi is a poor man compared to Jeff Bezos.

Or what I should have said, Lionel Messi is a poor man compared to Lucas Digne.

I think the point Delphinho was making was that there is a difference between life changing money for an individual, and life changing money for an entire generation of your family.

It's on offer, some people will take it.

If £8m* or so isn’t life changing for an entire generation of your family then there’s no hope for you.

* - very rough maths, £40k/wk for a 10 year career assuming 60% tax.
