Found a way to fast forward it but it only recorded the first 5 minutes of the game 😂😂🤣

Yep same here, I set it to record and purposely didn’t check on anything as I didn’t want to see the score and watch it ‘as live’ … but all it recorded was Traffic Cops or some shite so I gave up! 😂 just watched the highlights instead.

People make a big deal about left-footed players as if they're so specialised, but right-footed players play on the left all the time. Equally, it's possible to have 2 left-footed players at centre back. It's rare, but only because it's statistically rare to have 2 left-footed centre backs fighting for starts in your squad. Not because lefties have some weird genetic blind spot.

I agree that I think people make a too big deal about it. However (likely) all right footers will have played on the left in their careers or before with another right footed partner. However it's highly likely a left footed player has never played on the right as they would have mostly had right footed partners.

For example, I'm a left handed padel player and I do not play on the left ever and so would be far more uncomfortable there than a right hander on the right. I don't even switch sides during serves, while 2 right handed players often do

Yep agreed on both counts but the 1st sentence is definitely the case.

We struggle against Fulham, dont we?

Just watched the match, difficult to draw too many conclusions given the pre-season line-up and substitutions which inevitably interrupt the balance we have become accustomed to. We looked less assured and failed to really control the game but did succeed in keeping Fulham at bay, although they came very close and with better finishing could have levelled the score. The stats backed this up, but they might have been more favourable if we hadn't switched off after scoring the second goal.

Olsen was improved but his distribution wasn't all good, but he wasn't alone and the general distribution wasn't as accurate and we gave possession away far to easily at times. Martinez made some good save when he came on.

I thought Carlos looked good and is settling in quickly. Torres surprised me by joining in on attacks! He is going to be interesting and suggests we will evolve our playing style again with these new player attributes.

Another good outing for Buendia who looks notably physically stronger and his through balls are very well weighted. Very busy and sharp - a different player almost. Kamara was solid enough but still short of his best seen last season, hopefully this will come.

A midfield of Tielemans, Kamara and Luiz looks to be a very well balanced and effective unit.

Good to see Archer get some minutes, I thought he acquitted himself, he found space and his movement was good, although I was surprised that he wasn't as quick as I recalled. I have to say Fulham's RB had a very good game and was very quick. Unlucky to be fouled when a well worked goal looked likely, and his penalty was a good one which was exceptionally saved at full reach with finger tips - very unlucky and he will be disappointed not to score again later.

JPB had another good showing, very glad he has grabbed his opportunity as I feared he was going to fade into obscurity and out of the Managers consideration at the start of these friendlies. I think his opportunities will be fewer now Diaby and Bailey are available, and also with McGinn, Buendia and the eventual returning Ramsey will be vying for the advanced positions, but he has shown he could well have a future here.

Didnt see enough of Diaby to form too much of an opinion, but clearly his speed and shooting are going to get better and better as the understanding builds, I noted his determination to get ahead of Watkins for his goal. He is going to be an excellent player for us - more of these type signings please Monchi!

Last word for Fulham who for a long time last season occupied a lofty position in the table. They dont look like they were a flash in the pan, and i thought they were effective and very competitive, if a little unlucky on the night. They will have a decent season.

I decided (foolishly) to stay up until 3.30am to watch it. As Emery said after the match we were not as fluent as the previous game due to the weather delay. Fulham clogged up the middle of the pitch so we couldn't play through them and also they hauled our players down if anyone got past. I would like to know how many fouls they committed as it must have been more than 20 (thought it was supposed to be a friendly?)

Diego Carlos looked more like his old self. He gets so much power on those diagonals with almost no backlift. It must be so difficult to read for the opposing defenders. I do think the Diego-Pau partnership will take over eventually because the quality they bring but Mings-Konsa may start the season until the others are settled.

Luiz-Kamara-Tielemans all played good through balls during the match and having these three should keep that threat in behind going for 90 mins every week. There were a number of close calls getting Diaby, Archer or Watkins in on goal as well as the times it did work.

didn't mean to infer that it's not possible, but it is the preferred location for both (perhaps because they believe the overgeneralization you accurately debunk)   One consideration for UE, is "which one do I tell has to change his preferred and comfortable playing position - when I want them both to stay happy."

Quite a fiesty team Fulham and Vinicius is quite an aggressive forward, if not prolific.

I think the conditions, didn't help and the late start, but Villa to me, look like they were playing within themselves and allowed Fulham to show more aggression.

I thought Villa was intent on a Fitness run out, With Fulham desperate to win, even though they didn't.

The Diaby goal was interesting, we are going to be looking for that ball over the press quite a lot this year but him and Ollie were almost standing on each other’s toes.

Not when Luiz sent in the ball.

When it was delayed until after 1am I decided to just record it on SKY.

Watched it this morning with my Son, he thought it was a bit boring although he's only eight.

First-half they caused us problems switching play and hitting the diagonal ball. Fulham are a good team who are currently beset by injuries but Villa did enough, just.

Not overly impressed with anyone in all honesty apart from Tielemans and Diego Carlos.

I think the defensive CB partnership is totally up for grabs yet Mings has done so much or Villa and sentimentality does play a part with us fans. Of course Emery will operate differently and may favour Torres and Carlos for balance in the long-term.

Lots of options now, we will see quite a fluid interchange of fourteen to sixteen players as regular starters.

They are all cottoned on to that now.....its become our Achilles.

No doubt UE will find a solution for it, because it is appearing as "low hanging fruit" for oppositions goals.
