What's our problem? It's them who have the problem. Getting all precious about s couple of banners and now upset that nobody recognises anything they do from now as legitimate. It's both to be honest. But again, these sort of articles amuse me. "I don't care about Villa so much that I'm going to dedicate an entire article to how much I don't care about them". Aye, alright mate

Oh come on now. One of them is a world cup winner who was voted best 'keeper in the world, the other is 3rd choice England 'keeper. It's not even close. There aren't many players in the Newcastle side that I'd take in the Villa team, aside from Trippier and Guimaraes. Howe has just got the team playing above themselves and momentum is keeping the run going. Villa have performed better points wise since Emery came in than Newcastle and I think had we started with Enery we'd be where you are now. But legitimately. I wouldn't like to use England selection as a barometer since Watkins and Mings, clearly two of the best English players in their respective positions, still aren't being called up. But regardless, it's still not even close.

Its immoral, its against the rules and its just cheating on a monumental scale. And that's before we even look at the state that owns them.

Sorry but no.. https://www.fifa.com/fifaplus/en/articles/tbffa-2022-the-best-fifa-mens-goalkeeper-martinez-bounou-courtois That's the FIFA award. You on the other hand, posted a link to the International Federation of Historical Statistics to make your point. That's embarrassing pal. Wilson isn't 'just' a finisher, he does link play, he does track back, maybe not as much as Watkins, but he's not lazy in that regard. Plus Wilson is my wife's favourite so, I'd rather have Wilson, thanks very much. Sigh. Fine, I'll take a look at the stats you posted. 4 hours ago, TheFish said: Player Comparison: Callum Wilson vs. Ollie Watkins | FBref.com Wilson is pound for pound, the better player. Scores more per 90, takes more shots and gets more shots on target per 90. Creates more for others too. "Scores more per 90". Yes, he possibly does. Watkins had Steven Gerrard as manager for a fair chunk of the season - a period in which he didn't really see the ball. Since Emery has come in, he has 10 in 16. But sure, Wilson has scored more per 90 and less overall. "Takes more shots and gets more shots on target per 90". Again, Wilson does. His shot accuracy is worse - by a **** distance - but, sure, he shoots a lot so naturally he gets 'more on target'. And that's because, as I say, he doesn't really do much else. He shoots a lot with worse accuracy. "Creates more for others too". Odd that you've thrown this one in the mix. I'll stick with per 90 since you've done that so far, but Watkins passes more per 90 (17.2 to 12.1) and has a greater SCA than Wilson (2.28/90 compared to 1.86/90). He even ever so slightly edges out Wilson on CGA, but the difference is marginal. What else? As I say, Watkins passes more. He also has more touches than Wilson per 90 (28.1 to 22.9) and has more touches than Wilson in every single area of the pitch apart from, yes, you've guessed it, the attacking penalty box. Again, this is where Wilson is good. From the same stat link, Watkins wins more aerial balls than Wilson, progresses the ball further when dribbling (despite attempting it marginally less frequently), takes on players more successfully, makes more tackles, makes more interceptions, makes more blocks, recovers the ball more often, is offside less often, commits fewer fouls hell he even receives fewer yellow cards. As I say, Watkins is a better all round player. Wilson is a finisher and he's good at that.

Pope cost england a goal pre-world cup. There's no doubt he's a good keeper but not in the same class as Martinez. I agree with most of your selections and I would only have Martinez, moreno, Luiz and Watkins in a combined team. Mings is close but the Newcastle defence has been great all season even holding Arsenal. PieFacE Posted April 13, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted April 13, 2023 (edited) The "rivalry" between Villa fans and Newcastle fans is such a load of nonsense. Mostly fuelled by Twitter idiots on both sides. I'm just looking forward to this game. Both clubs in fantastic form and looking to finish in a great place. Should make for a good game.
