He wasn't on for long but some of his chasing down was really impressive. The best bit yesterday was when he chased back and helped win the ball back around the halfway line - then made himself available for a pass, laid it off again, found space, got the ball back and made progress down the line and then checked, found a man in space and helped us waste another 30 - 40 seconds (I think he ended up winning us a throw). For a 19 year old kid desperate to make his mark - I thought that showed a real understanding of the match situation and a real maturity. It would have been easy for him to try and beat his man to look good and instead concede possession putting us under pressure. However, he used his brain and did the right thing for the team. That shows that he is really listening to the coaching team and really trying to understand the game. I actually clapped and shouted "nice one" at the TV when he did that. Yes - he's still raw. But I think he'll absorb loads from Emery and the coaching team and develop into a much better player. Obviously, he's not yet at the level of being an able deputy for Ollie if he's out for 10 matches - but if we can be patient with him and he can remain patient with us then I think he could become a terrific player. 5 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Seems to be getting better. Holding up the ball a little more comfortably. Understanding his role in the team. Nearly scored. Decent performance.
