Rice is a great player. His positioning is class. He covers the ground like a gazell. He dictates the game, rarely gives the ball away under pressure and has a great knack of winning the ball and using his body.

He's on a long term deal so will get priced out of a move until 24 months.

He ain't a 100m player and he ain't going to bang in double figures from midfield but he'll win championships.

He's ran the game everytime we've faced them.

Nah, this is his peak IMO

He is good at all of those things

Now stick him in a team with 60% possession and 500+ passes a game where he's getting 80 touches and you'll see why none of the top top teams are spunking £100m on him

Compare him to rodri, or fabinho, or Henderson, or kimmich or valverde or even busquets, the top teams don't play with a player like Rice

Well done to Forest, had good spells and also backs to the wall in this 90 minutes.

Important they got 3 points on the board early with all the signings they're making.

West Ham just feels flat currently, not helped by Moyes whinging endlessly about transfers. They'll still probably beat us in a few weeks.

He'll sign for Chelsea next summer imo. Feels right with his mates at the club and likes of Kante and Jorginho in their 30s and perhaps leaving.

People said the same about Henderson and Rodri was getting the same first season at City.

He'd be a rolls royce in a top 4 side

fantastic game to watch i thought, enjoyable and forest gave a very good account of themselves imo. tough game for hammers next as they face brighton which i reckon they might lose. then its their visit to villa park, if they come to us with 0 points on the board still then we simply have to win that game.

Brighton however are draw specialists so could see a 0-0

I just saw the WHU result. How did they play? Have the wheels fallen off there or is this just a blip?

They had plenty of chances to score in this game, hit the crossbar twice via freekicks and open play, had a penalty saved (awful pen tbf by rice) and forest cleared a chance of theirs of the line. They look a bit disjointed and not as free-flowing as last season but i dont think they should panic, they had chances that were clear cut

He is playing for David Moyes. So will play in that style. He isnt quick but hes got fantastic awareness which gets him into position. Tall and strong and far more skillful than we get to see.  When he goes to Chelsea he will be incredible. Got the guts and the ability. A midfield version of John Terry.  In fact he will end up at centre back for a fair few years because he can read the game so well.

Conte's formation is an interesting one. Would be akin to us playing:

                 Martinez

    Chambers Kamara Mings

Cash  McGinn  Ramsey  Bailey

            Watkins Buendia

                       Ings
