Summer Transfer Window 2022

Can see a max of 3 players coming in this summer.

1. DM.

2. RB - I don't think Gerrard is convinced by Cash and will look to replace him and if that is the case, hopefully Atletico are still interested in him and we can make a good profit on him.

3. CB - The way he has to urge Konsa and Mings to come out with the ball makes me think Gerrard wants more of a ball playing defender that is willing to carry ball out of defence.

See no need for midfield improvement then?

I think signing a DM will have a domino effect and improve the overall midfield personally.

Midfield did well with Nakamba in there so no reason to think they cant get back to that level

Agree. Don’t get why fans think it’s ripping it up and staring again whenever we buy more players.

Nobody has said that but I have already seen suggestions of selling at least 5 starters which is definitely a rebuild and not building on what we have

You really should not replace more than 3 starters per summer

People suggesting competition for LB while a good idea its unrealistic. No chance we are leaving a 150k player on the bench regardless pf performance so whoever comes in knows they will have very limited game time

I agree with being careful over the number of replacements being signed in one window. The only times I have seen suggestions of large numbers has been in the organs of idle speculation - both journalists and social media. I don’t think we should give automatic credibility to such sources because on many occasions they are far from accurate. Have you ever seen such suggestions coming from the club? I haven’t and I’d be very concerned if they did.

I see this + a new striker.

I can see Watkins and Luiz leaving as well as Cash/Targett. Shame, and let’s hope it works as all 4 were key players for DS.

Was tempted to say a striker but think it depends on the performance of Ings/Watkins from now until the end of the season. Think young Archer might even force his way into their plans if e keeps lighting the place up.

Here we go again. Rebuilding anything that currently exists includes refurbishment, restructuring or betterment. Hence it includes ‘strengthening’. This should not be confused with building something completely new - i.e. did not exist before - eg. a new factory on a greenfield site. This is where you can only use the term ‘build’ because nothing pre-existed. So developing our squad taking it from where we are now to top 6 competitors is a form of rebuild. In fact our owners are rebuilding Aston Villa top to bottom - hence new additions to Bodymoor, youth development both at Bodymoor and the plans for local talent at  Witton, plans to enlarge Villa Park and developing the Aston Villa image abroad starting with Las Vegas.

Your analogy is wrong.

Lets see how much love or hate I get for this....

When I watch Watkins I feel he is a specialist of nothing and does a whole bunch of things well.
I repeatedly watch him not be the target man up front drifting wide all the time.

Would you sell him for a good fee (the sort of fee you see in the papers with the odd link there has been)

To bring back Abraham someone who spends his time in the box.

Yeah i agree. Cash did well in hos first year but this year he has been utterly poor. If athletico do want him at 40m thats a fantastic deal for us. Alot better options out there

‘Utterly poor’. He’s been one of our best players in a system that nobody seems to be excelling in.

How’s about we sign a midfielder, a striker and a centre half before even discuss replacing one of our better players who has a fantastic attitude.

Everyone has a price, and at this point Ollie's is probably less than the figures that were being quoted for him. This season has shown that he's not good as we thought he was, maybe other clubs haven't caught on to this yet and we can dupe them.

I'm not sure I would want go for Abraham though, he's pretty important for Roma and with the English tax and all, we would probably be forced to spend over value to get him.

Chelsea also have a buy back clause

So let me get this correct, he would be good enough for Atletico Madrid but not for Villa

Some things you read on here😂😂😂😂

Cash is an excellent right back when you primarily want your defender to defend but when playing our current system we basically need a winger who will occasionally wander into the right back area
