Granted the race is a bit of a foregone conclusion barring technical failures, but the qualifying is a different test of a driver. You know you've got to get it perfect to have any chance of getting a result on Sunday. There are very limited opportunities to put it right on the Sunday. It is the ultimate test of a driver's speed over one lap. It's also not as safe as it's made out to be as regards its place on the calendar. F1 have already changed its conditions, with Monaco already having to pay a hosting fee and the Friday rest day being scrapped.
