Robin Olsen

I don't think he's ever kept a clean sheet and clearly not comfortable with the ball at his feet, doesn't command his area and doesn't leave his box. That completely stiffles the way Emery wants us to play. We need an upgrade.

Here's a shout: Matthew Ryan

  • Aussie international
  • Premier league experience
  • Currently playing in the Netherlands
  • Knows how to play with his feet and be a sweeper

This. Olsen's not good at anything and basically screws the entire balance of the side.

Reading those bullet points:

He kept a clean sheet against Spurs but then I think they only had a couple of shots all game.

Robin Olsen clearly isn't the worst keeper we've ever had. That's like the definition of recency bias right there.

But yes please, **** him off in May and pray we never have to play him again.

He is. Even for all Nyland's faults he was agile and would have decent games.

Can we STOP bumping this topic now please ladies and gentlemen. I'm having kittens thinking he's playing tonight.

Thanks in advance.

I’m going to bump this at 18:44, just to be a d*** so you think he’s been picked…

I remember a game v Wolves when he just rolled the ball straight out to one of their players who somehow then fired it straight over the bar.

Remember that like it was yesterday. The ball left his hand well before his arm had completed the throwing curve. Was a shocker.

Ryan would be a great backup and would fit into our style of play. He constantly moves club as soon as he is out of favour though. Can't see him wanting to be a number 2.

Olsen...regardless of his more traditional keeping abilities (or lack thereof), the effect of draining confidence out of the defence is massive, but even more importantly his ball playing skills are non-existent yet this is fundamental to the way we play now. Without the goalkeeper's distribution it's almost back to SlippyGBall.
