Ollie Watkins

He had two shots on Sunday that were xG of 0.17 and 0.37 and post shot xG of those were 0.86 and 0.87 which means he did everything right just the keeper saved it. Both of those are goals nearly 9/10. He had a very good game. He's playing well

Not really an achievement though is it.  I mean scoring 40 goals is not a vast amount for a regular team in the PL over thirty years, it says more about Villa’s record than anything else.

This is a myth, there are plenty of forwards that are very mobile in the PL that would and do get on the type of chances that Ollie does.

Do they do everything Ollie does? No.  Do they do other things Ollie doesn’t? Yes.  Do they do some things better than Ollie? Yes.  Do they do some things worse than Ollie? Yes.

He’s brilliant for us the majority of the time but he needs quality competition because he does have he off times but it’s a myth about him the only player that gets chances like he does.

I think what is most frustrating about ollie is the times when he gets in a really good position but then fails to get a shot off or squander it and turns it into a low quality shot.

Just as a finisher Ollie is probably around average, but we know he could be scoring more if his decision making was better and his final touch didn't so regularly let him down.

I thought he was a 7.5/10, decent performance. I think his passing is actually slowly improving, but there were still a few of them that were atrociously weighted.

He's really not the best passer. Especially the through balls because as you say his weight of pass is poor. He's far better when crossing than he is with forward passes imo. Maybe because that's how he was coached at an earlier age and he finds it more natural to do.

He's been great so far, as he has been for nearly every game since Emery came in.

I do worry about his contract though, we need to have a big season and even if we do there's a few clubs that could quite easily see a place for him, who wed be unable to deter him from.

Arsenal his boyhood club are going with Nketiah and Jesus as their options this year, neither are as good as Oli imo and he could be an attractive option for them next summer.

Spurs if they have a better season than us could have a striking void, he's an Arsenal fan but with players these days you never know.

Man Utd again he'd fit and they're currently banking on Hojlund.

Chelsea may decide to give him an massive contract to sit on.

Hopefully we can convince him and get him to sign, or at least we are already planning plan B in a year's time. He's getting better year by year so as others have said it'd be great to see him get the record for us.

Only side he wouldn't immediately go into the first XI is City.

Has some competition at Arsenal and Chelsea but would easily start for every other prem team.

Villa fans really deluding themselves just because he's not got Kane-level passing or Haaland-level finishing.

He wouldn't start over Isak. Not sure about Nicolas Jackson either. After that, you're probably right.

But, there's a big gap between his level of passing and Kane's passing, and also between his finishing and Haaland's finishing, so they're odd comparisons.

Not to say he doesn't give us an awful lot, but passing and finishing aren't strengths of his.
