Popular Post mjmooney Posted April 11, 2021 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted April 11, 2021 Re: the above 'news' item: "What the reaction to Prince Phillip's death says about us". It's by **** ing Gyles Brandreth, natch, and it's all about the national 'outpouring of grief'. If ever there was a case of 'news as propaganda', this is it. Now, I'm not denying that there IS a great deal of pro-Royal hysteria going on. The fact that it bewilders and nauseates me in equal proportions doesn't alter that fact. But there is no 'THE reaction' to his death (and the associated media frenzy). There are reactions. It isn't just VT. A huge number of people are massively indifferent, even pissed off with it all. What does that say about us as a nation? Well it would probably disgust the flag shaggers, but the debate is there to be had. And the BBC is not reporting it impartially.

mjmooney Posted April 11, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted April 11, 2021 Scenario One: Meghan Markle attends the funeral. "She's got a damned cheek. After all she's said. Nobody wants to see her there. Making it all about herself. You'd think she'd have the decency to stay well away". Scenario Two: Meghan Markle does NOT attend the funeral. "How disgraceful. Shows no respect. Making it all about herself. You'd think she'd have the decency to at least turn up and support her husband in his grief". It's going to be Scenario Two, I understand.

She’d have to isolate if she came to the UK from the USA now and wouldn’t be able to attend anyway I assume. Is Harry coming? I wonder if they will allow him to break the rules. Genie
You expect the people pulling the strings behind the scenes would be setting up clear the air talks before the funeral. Otherwise it could be a bit of a car cr... erm awkward event.
