Douglas Luiz

Brazil fans will tell you that they’re perplexed Bruno G and Joelinton see the pitch before Dougie. Dougie is the exact midfielder that Diniz should want. A player that can control the tempo, know when to recycle or go direct. Yet they have Bruno and Joelinton playing like they’re still at Newcastle, launching switches with abandon.

Sounds Harry Maguire-esque

Nice stats.

Particularly impressive considering the two players that are above him are only narrowly so, and goal contributions are the big part of their game whereas Luiz offers us so much more.

Was hoping he'd get a cheap yellow at the end for dissent or something. We can't afford him missing the City or Arsenal games.

Madness, would be without both him and Kamara v Bournmouth.

Just need to hope Dougie comes through unscathed next game.

To think all those years wasted on him as a holding 6 and then benched under the fraud.

For once, a stroke of luck we managed to re-sign him when it would’ve been easier to sell him for anything.

Probably worked out brilliantly for us as if he'd have shown this form before he signed that contract, he probably would've been a hotter property and he may not have signed it.

Think we could cope, especially with the form Tielemans is in. If any game we needed to do that it would be the Bournemouth one.

He probably learned a lot by playing as a 6 and likely is a better player for it now

As @Davkaus said, what makes it so much more impressive is that if you look at his other stats as well, I'm pretty sure 95% of them would be levels above either of them. Successful dribbles probably the only stat they'd beat him on.

He can do it all. In open play he can be Bernado Silva,   he can do a De Bruyne impression from free kicks. If we get a penalty then he turns into prime El Ghazi, . If we get a corner he can do an Ashley Young. The best impressionist on the planet.

Nah, we need at least one of them. Not saying we couldn't win without them as Bournemouth are poor but I wouldn't feel comfortable going into that with neither. We just need to manage him properly in the Bournemouth game.
