It will probably make a massive difference to performances and results if the new manager picks the best players and plays them in their correct positions allowing freedom to express themselves.

I firmly believe it is that simple to get Villa rolling again because the squad is plenty good enough to be challenging for automatic promotion.

Totally agree - let's hope they appoint the right one this time .

After Saturday I'm more convinced about Smith.

A manager who has a system and gets the players to play the way he wants to play.

If he got our players playing that way we'd be flying.

My only concern is how long it would take to get us playing like that.

I thought you were firmly in the smith camp in recent weeks ? What changed ?

Not me, I think he pretty clearly out-Managed Steve Bruce this season and last, and might be a good shout, but never firmly in his or any other camp.

What aren't they 2nd bottom ?

Smith would flounder big time at villa - you could even argue he is struggling at Brentford. With the quality of finishing from Brentford on saturday - lets hope he doesn't bring his coaching staff.

That's the thing with Brentford. They are owned, or were, by the same people that own FC Midtjylland in Denmark. They have a clear footballing ethos that runs throughout the clubs.

We don't seem to have anything of the sort.
