Well, yes, they could have if we're talking about the Euro campaign as a whole. Hodgson's team romped through the qualifying matches don't forget*

*admittedly against poor sides

Easy group, we would have romped it even if Black was manager.

If the FA were going to pick Redknapp they would have done it last time. To be fair he couldn't have done any worse than Hodgson.

He could.

Hodgson did one half of his job very well. He got us to tournaments incredibly convincingly.

He was just shocking when we got there.

Why not?

you could make a decent argument that while he might not be an amazing manager he's a man who can put a structure in place, did something which Germany (albeit he was one of a few) and he's now done it with the yanks

our problem would be that you bring someone in to restructure our set up and then make him work alongside whoevers doing Trevor brookings old cushy number at the moment

German structure was put in place in 2000, he gave a lot of players debuts but he didnt really have much to do with structures though Rudi Voller gave Podolski, Schweinsteiger and Lahm debuts

Klinsmann has had a better squad than Bruce Arena and Bob Bradley and they both did a better job than him

Yeah, it was certainly before Jurgen. As for young players, the extent of new young players for his WC2006 squad were Janssen, Hanke and Odonkor. Awful.

Who knows what he's done for the future of US soccer (though development in that areas has been in place well before he got there), but he's certainly not doing a good job. A lot of ageing players still in his squad. The US were routinely winning the Gold Cup before he took over, he then got embarrassed (5-0, 2-0 up to lose 4-2) in a few finals against Mexico. Then his most recent placing of 4th is one of the worst in US history. But they did beat Panama in a final! Now they're struggling to qualify for the final round of qualifying for the World Cup.

As bad as England have been for the past decade, I would have no confidence that England would qualify for a tournament with someone Klinsmann.

I honestly believe we's have done better in this competition with Rednapp. Whatever you think of him as a person he had some merit as a manager. He may have bankrupted a few clubs on the way but cant really blame him for that. 4-4-2. Vardy and Kane up front. Two wide men, he'd have played to our strengths. Screw the qualification. Anybody would have qualified whether it had 11 wins out of 11 who cares. The manager is judged on whet he does in the finals. Qualifcation is the easy bit, especially these days.
