I'm honestly amazed by the amount of people who've rated Sherwood as 'good'. It was absurd to start that game without Grealish or Gil. It was obvious to anyone we'd have no threat at all, sideways and backwards passes, then twatting it long aimlessly over and over again.

He deserves the tiniest, tiniest amount of credit for changing it, but it was hardly a master stroke to put Grealish on. It's like praising a boxer for turning a fight around after he stops punching himself in the face.

Well that's a surprise, Local Plod saying the night went off without incident yet a Villa fan just called WM and said a mob of at least 60 knuckledraggers smashed up the Manor Tavern.

Someone's telling porkies.

Fair enough. I'm  going on the radio interview I just heard again, no mention of the Tavern, just a "no disorder" comment.

I don't usually bother looking at anything about SHA, in fact until last night I couldn't have named you one player of theirs but after reading something on H&V I looked at their forum, hahahahaha.

The site is an absolute mess, each of the knuckle dragging inbreds starting a their own "look at me" topic, hardly a good word to say about anything or anyone, hoping that someone "smacks" Jack if they see him in Brum, talking about a moral victory??? WTF?? etc, etc.

Honestly I've hardly met one that I liked, I've probably punched more of them than I've shared a beer with and after reading their crap I wouldn't mind doing so again.

Anyway for the game, poor 1st half. IMO neither team edged it as both teams were bad. 2nd half we should have beaten them by more than 1 goal and 1-0 does flatter them.

Grealish and Ayew obviously made the difference but does Sherwood knows what his best 11 is yet?

One thing for sure though Clark should be 1st choice with Lescott as his back up, Gabby has to step back, maybe on the bench but honestly we can't carry a none scoring forward any longer.

Also and I realise that I've said this before but somehow Sherwood has to see that Westwood isn't good enough, against Blues I thought Veretout looked like he's fit enough to be given a run in Westwoods place.

Although this game has zero bearing on the Premiership I thought we finally took a step in the right direction in the 2nd half, maybe just maybe Sherwood can finally start making good on his promise that we will never be in a relegation battle again under his charge.

Oh and The city is ours!

Getting off the train on the way to the ground we were unfortunate enough to be surrounded by Blues' fans.

The police never gave us a chance to separate ourselves from them. They penned us in as soon as we were off the train and herded us all the way to the ground.

We tried to hang back and slip out the back so we could get into the North Stand instead of the away stand but they wouldn't let us. They'd formed a human chain around the fans and wouldn't let anybody out.

Then they closed the gates to the area behind the North Stand, which just antagonised the unwashed, as they didn't actually want a fight, just wanted to act like they did, so with a gate in the way they could act like yobs with no repercussion.

Eventually, just as we were actually considering what we'd do if we ended up in their stand we managed to slip out of the kettle when the police broke it to let an old man out.

Then we got to the aforementioned gates only for the steward to tell us we had to walk round the entire ground to get into the North stand as they weren't going to open the gates. Luckily someone opened a small gate instead and we slipped through.

So yeah, that was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. They're a load of scum that lot, and being lumped in with them wasn't nice at all.

After the game, we got out nice and quick in order to get to the station early and avoid the blues fans, only to find out the police had cordoned off Witton Road and were sending us on a "loop" to get to the station. That loop ended up being up to the walsall road, down the A453 and right somewhere there to get back to the station.
We'd walked for a mile and a half before we decided to just get a cab instead. But looking at google maps I reckon that "loop" works out at about 2.5 to 3 miles.
I bet by the time we'd gotten to the station it would have been full with the blues fans who would have been shuttled there again!

Was annoyed at not being allowed to go along the road to get to my car at The Yew Tree for ages - the Blooz fans had to be let out first - and yet when we go to the Sty (or Albion) it is US the away fans that get penned in (at Blooz) and diverted for miles at Albion (and Wolves) - so why was it the Home fans who were inconvenienced this time?

Plods statement acknowledged that in their defence. http://ow.ly/SxLJh

It was probably surprisingly easy to police when everyone posts about how they're gonna f*** up the Villa where and when on Twitter and Facebook like a herd of embarrassing Dad's.

Also, think the dropping Grealish and Gil thing, as awful as we were, may have been a blessing in disguise.

Grealish had disruptive pre-season/ankle knock and Gil had a knock before Baggies. I admit the team was so frustrating to see but I guess all we needed to do was keep it 0-0 at h-t and the fans on-side, which happened.

Blues were absolutely pond

Was this at Witton?

I got off at Aston, originally the police tried to just hold back the unwashed and let Villa fans through. Then the noses charged at the police and forced their way through, so the police just let them all go and held the Villa fans back instead. Outstanding crowd control.

Yeah it was Witton.

I can understand the crowd control. But when me and my sister were politely asking to be let out because we were Villa fans and needed to get to the other stand, it was annoying that we weren't allowed. Just kept getting herded in with those scumbags.

I always park under the motorway bridge a bit further down from The Yew Tree pub. Walked up on my own towards the ground and was very fortunate to time it just right to get infront of the kettled blues fans being held at Witton before being escorted to the ground. The police had left room for Villa fans to pass them on the other side of the road. I feel for you Stevo if you were amongst that lot, against your will.

Was astounded, like others to have left the ground promptly (final whistle blew as I was at the bottom of the Holte End steps) only to find the fencing up blocking access towards Witton where the away fans were. Having walked back around the ground and down a side road to the Tesco roundabout we then discovered the other police cordon blocking access to Witton Road. At this point they still hadn't let the Blues fans out, I can understand wanting to keep rival fans from clashing on the station platform but it was disgusting that they couldn't split access to the station off whilst still allowing fans access to Witton Lane to retrieve cars!

Had no choice but to walk up Aston Lane past Tesco, up to Perry Barr dog track and walk through the unlit Holford Industrial estate to loop back to the top end of Witton Lane. No stewards or police in place at any stage of this journey to provide directions or security. I dread to think of the potential for violence if a load of noses had congregated on that industrial estate in wait. There were elderly and young children doing that walk which was completely unneccessary. All police had to do was advise home fans that access to Witton station and Witton Lane would be restricted after the game and people could have planned accordingly.
