If we ever needed an example of the influence of a manager on a player; its Alan Hutton. Only saw highlights of yesterday, but he played really well. Once Vlaar and Senderlols is back, or even just one of them to play with Okore or Clark then out back 4 is one of our strongest assets... Who'd have thought that would be possible last season, or the season before that.

Looks like my Reverse pyschology paid off, good three points hopefully we do the same against Leicester.

Don't you mean hopefully we don't?

No, I hope we get another 'good three points', would be nice to do it with a bit more ease at the weekend though.

Woops, I get it now : )

I can be quite slow witted, but sometimes manage to get there eventually!

Hahahaha…..What a load of bullsh1t!

I doubt Lambert would even have the balls to claim any credit for Huttons form. FFS he left him out of the squad for 2 seasons for no reason. He never gave the lad a chance even when he played well on loan and for Scotland.

If anything the form of Hutton actually highlights how poor a judge of a player Lambert is.

What an intellegent, diplomatic and polite way of disagreeing with my viewpoint. The same argument has been had roughly a million times on VT now, so I'm not going to bother here. But I will say our defence is demonstrably better this year, and that is evidenced in the stats.

Anyway thanks for that, made my day.

Apologies, did not mean to cause offence.

We can agree that Huttons form this season has been one of the few positives.

I should be in a much better mood seen as we finally won a game and are up to 12th in the table.

Who knows if Cole didn’t go off injured we might have played some entertaining football.

Sounds like we were our usual terrible self but feck it il be positive

Benteke is back and in the goals

We are 12th

3 points further away from relegation thanks to other results

Another 90 minutes for Okore who WILL be the next Desailly!

Couldn't ask for a better game next week to try and get another 3 points (nailed on defeat)

Yes Okore for me was our best player.

Not even close to it in my opinion. He is improving, but certainly had a number of lapses.

Clark, on the other hand, was excellent.

Thank god for our academy, without him and Baker, we would have been in even greater trouble.

The fact we've reached a point where we'll take any points we can after 14 games shows how poor we've been.

An awful performance and I can't think of many games we've won were we were worse.

Huge credit for the fight the team showed and how well we defended.  But on the flipside to that i'd imagine that's what a league 1 club would do in cup game away from home.

Benteke is top class and with him in the team you will always have a chance of scoring.

Points move us up the table, performance makes me think it won't be too long before we drop down again.

First off - I don't care if we play well or bad as long as we win.

That said I find it hard to see people bashing the performance when we win. We have played really well, bar a few errors, most of the time in the 6 loss run. And what did we get from that? Did anyone here say that the performances looked good so points would come? It is a result game. Man U have played on other teams mistakes for years with succes

No worries. I've been buoyed by our league position too. It is a shame about Cole, I sort of expected it when we signed him, but I didn't expect this many injuries.

People didn't say that because most of the time during that 6 game loss streak we were very poor.

absolutely appalling, but nothing new there

cheers Christian!

i also sense some divine intervention was at hand righting lamberk's ridiculous starting formation with Cole's latest injury. Shame for the lad but what lamberk was thinking i'll never know. Nothing new there either then

Great result because of a battling performance from the players, but completely disorganised. They need the help of a really good coach.

Voted Hutton MOM, he was superb.

Took Benteke a while to get into the game, but a sublime goal.

Clark was very good, and Sanchez had a good game - was everywhere. Weimann had his usual high energy game, could miss his presence in the next game.

Guzan had a dodgy game, as had Okore, but Okore shows signs of being an excellent player.

Cleverly put in a shift, but to little effect, we really should be looking to get someone better than him.

Westwood was his usual inconspicuous self, he really is a lightweight in this division.

Agbonlahor is a passenger in this team - needs dropped.

Important 3 points. Love it when we win, no matter how we do it!

Now Im a Lambert sympathiser, I actually like the bloke and hope he does well for us for many a year yet.

In saying that Id like to know what the people were watching to give his tactics an 'excellent' vote.

A win?

Is that a serious answer?

It's just a guess since I didn't give it.

And no, not very serious either. Was just in a good mood and thought everything that comes to my mind is funny.

It is a results business, but results are usually "live for today".......performances are usually "live for tomorrow"......they are a barometer for where you are going as opposed to what you have done.

The more you can improve your performances the more likelihood of consistency which leads to improved results.

both are important.
