If it's true about him offering to say until a replacement is found but the club allowing him to leave for 'family reasons' then that makes me wonder.

Trust me it is, what I've posted in this thread is what happened.

Why is it that when someone says "trust me" I immediately get suspicious?  ;)

Wonder what the real story is here?

Thanks for the advise but I don't think I need to look up the word fact! I've been goin to villa park probably longer than you've been saying cakey moma!

I'm Not ITK, However many many years in the Holte, Trinity and events sectors have made me some very close friends.

You are one of many, who all say totally contradictory things.

Sorry your right, It could have been the North stand, Witton and The Villa leisure centre also.

Not like others pal, I don't post for effect. Like i said I'm Not ITK, It really is that simple.

There are two good links, to large to paste but they are not normally far wrong when it comes to Keane. Seems to suggest that Grealish situation may have played a bit part

My first instinctive thoughts when I heard he was going were: 1. He probably hadn't realised what a total shambles we are in at Villa and how massive the management task is given three seasons of failure to build a proper squad and playing style, so the job was just much bigger than he could manage part-time; 2. After his blow-up with the press at Portmanock, MON looked distinctly unimpressed at having to deal with the fallout, so Keane maybe got an ultimatum to reduce the pressure on himself and choose between Villa and Ireland. He had always made clear he would choose the latter if forced.

Speculation of course but these two articles sort of back it up.

I can't link to it because I don't have the required subscription but I believe there is an article by The Sun today that backs up what I've posted in the last 24 hours on this.

Haha the Sun. Yeah really backs you up that does...

The main reason for him leaving apart from him being mind boggled with lamberts style or rather lack of it, Ridiculous tactics, formations, anti football and substitutions, lamberts inability to listen to advise.

Rome is burning and exit of bent is the staw that broke the camels back in our current embarrassing situation.

In life, Before you can help other people, you have to make sure you can help yourself and all Lambert is doing is making a very long rod for his own back.

Total bunkum. It is nothing whatsoever to do with Bent.

They must have known he didn't really give a toss about them, cuz he was a part timer with Ireland being his bigger priority. Generally it's a good policy to have all hands on deck so to speak, and Keane didn't. Hopefully Mr. Lambert picks someone who will make a total commitment to the Villa cause.

I am amazed he stayed as long as he did to be honest. The sort of self important person he is,he must have found it really hard work to work alongside such a clueless idiot as Lambert .

Tough talker: Keane's no-nonsense approach didn't go down well with the Villa players

Roy Keane walked out on Aston Villa to the sound of cheering from Paul Lambert’s dressing-room, writes Neil Moxley in the Sunday People.

Villa’s players broke into applause when the Irishman’s exit was confirmed on Friday morning.

But that goodwill among Lambert’s players was not shared by the 4,100 travelling fans at Turf Moor, who called for their manager’s head during and after the 1-1 draw against struggling Burnley on Saturday.

The Scot was jeered by his own supporters after Danny Ings’ late penalty cancelled out Joe Cole’s first-half opener.

But 24 hours earlier it was a different story when Keane announced his departure, citing a need to spend more time with his family.

Separate ways: Keane only joined Paul Lambert's backroom team in July

The 43-year-old former Sunderland and Ipswich manager said that doubling up his commitments with Villa and Ireland was proving too much for him.

And although he walked and was not sacked by Villa boss Lambert, the club’s first-team squad were still happy to see the back of him.

Matters came to a head after Villa’s toothless defeat to QPR at Loftus Road last month. Manchester United legend Keane rounded on several Villa players, calling them out after a pitiful display during the loss.

Insiders have confirmed to Sunday People Sport that Keane suffered “a real head loss” following their no-show in west London.

But it was Lambert whose head was being demanded by the supporters as large sections of the fans made their feelings known in Lancashire.

The Villans' boss did not duck the issue, and said: “I heard it. These guys pay their money and I have absolutely no problem with it. This football club is massive and the expectancy level is huge.”
