Popular Post Pelle Posted March 3, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2014 Swedish paper Aftonbladet reports that we've signed 15 year old Moustafa Zeidan Khalili from Helsingborg on a 3 year contract. http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/fotboll/internationell/england/article18465769.ab As most of you won't understand what it says I'll try to translate the most important parts: "'He has a style of playing that reminds of Mesut Özil', says his agent Hasan Cetinkaya. He's signed a 3 year contract but will move in the summer. 'Aston Villa has the best academy. Historically they've moved up most players to the first team. It's a very good move for him' says the agent. He plays for the swedish born '98 national team and has played several games for Högaborg in the swedish 2nd division (Which in reality is the 4th division, just like in England). He both assist and scores a lot of goals. 'He's a number 10, a striker, but can also play on the wing. In my opinion he and Zacharias Faour are the biggest stars in the '98 national team. Aston Villa have scouted him thourouhly and regards him as one of the best swedish players of his age. He's one of the biggest talents of those ages I've seen as an agent, to be honest I haven't seen anything like it. He'll be a PL-player shortly, I'm sure of that' the agent continues (Though he wouldn't say much else, would he?) Benfica, Ajax and clubs from Italy all wanted to sign him, as well as swedish champions Malmö FF, but Villa was the best choice. 'He got a good impression of the club and many of their youth players have gone to the first team. It's a good step for him to developing. He thinks this is great, a dream for him'" Well, we'll see. Hopefully the agent is right. 10
El-Reacho Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Zeidan - can't be too shabby with a name like that.
Qwpzxjor1 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) I've always liked us having Scandinavian and Scandinavian based players for some reason. Always seem to have picked up good players from those areas. Obviously quite a few years away from seeing this guy but it's nice to see we are still perceived as a good move for young players. Mister_a Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Yoo young for a full beard, but hope for the future
Con Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 he could be our Dan Crowley replacement. there was a very enthusiastic article comparing him to Mesut Ozil.
Popular Post Condimentalist Posted March 3, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2014 Finally - a number 10! 5
Nigel Posted March 3, 2014 VT Supporter Posted March 3, 2014 ....says his agent...mmm! Glad we are looking for future quality though!
AndyClarke Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 He scored a hattrick for the u16s a couple of weeks back.
bobzy Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Don't worry guys - if he's any good, Arsenal will take him off our hands for £300k at the age of 16 1
NeilS Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Did we sign a promising young Swedish player last season? This all sounds very familiar, is it the same player or a different one?
Ghost Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Signed Khalid Abdo last season I think. Also an attacking mid I believe.
samjp26 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Think its interesting that he'll be joining up with the U21s being that he is only 15, must be something about him.
kevangrealish Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Thought Abdo was a winger ? Anyway seems like a decent signing. If we could sign one like this every two years or so its bound to be helpful for the future. 1
shaggy Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Finally - a number 10 Hopefully that's not his real age?
SikhInTrinity Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Thought Abdo was a winger ? Anyway seems like a decent signing. If we could sign one like this every two years or so its bound to be helpful for the future. Seems to me we are heading in this direction of looking abroad for players, as Crowley seems to be a sore point with Bryan Jones.
NeilS Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Ah I thought we did, could not remember the name though. Glad I am not going mad just yet.
NoelVilla Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Högaborg is the club Henrik Larsson came from to. We signed quite a good player if he come close to Henke's ability.
GarethRDR Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Our youth team's getting on for more Swedes than a Muppet's kitchen.
Ooh-Ah Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Don't worry guys - if he's any good, Arsenal will take him off our hands for £300k at the age of 16 Like Samir Carruthers?
