  1. I watch this show religiously, season after season, yet I hate it more than any show on TV. Why can't they just end it so I can never watch it again? I'm too far in to stop now.
  2. No you are correct, the dark blue is the shrinkage. It's to do with the longitude and latitude. Although neither maps are going to be anywhere near perfectly reliable spec.
  3. I guess the 3D vs 2D is why the Mercator Projection is a thing (whether it's true or not is another debate)
  4. I watched some of the Scotland game, they are absolutely dreadful. McGinn barely got the ball as they knocked it sideways, long or out wide on every occasion. It reminded me of us in our relegation season. Really hope the knock is nothing serious.
  5. Why don't you look for it yourself instead of asking on VT
  6. I still think we should wait for a season or two until we start planning on expanding Villa Park in any way. Attendance rises at Villa are usually temporary, although I think this time it's on a different level. If the attendances remain at capacity for the entire season and into next season then I would then begin putting plans into action. We've seen it in the past where people turn up to Villa Park when the good times are there, but with a string of poor performances the empty seats start creeping back in. I think we now have a competent board who will make decisions based on the best interest of the club in the long term. Imagine we had pulled down the North Stand this Summer and were currently playing games with 3/4 of the stadium whilst the new stand went up; in our first season back this would really change the atmosphere on match day and most likely hinder the performances on the pitch.
  7. The large majority of these protests are held by people who just want to rebel against society. Complete idiots who spend days campaigning, causing congestion thus adding traffic fumes, camping out and leaving litter to be cleared up after them and generally being a nuisance to the public and police. If they were to gather in force as they have done and actually do some good then maybe others would follow. Organise mass litter clearing across the UK, fund raise to make changes that can help their cause; instead they sit around causing chaos for a few days then go home to forget about it for another few months.
  8. Struggling with FUT this year. Division Rivals is so hard online, almost every team I face have a front three containing Sterling, Auba, Mane, Aguero or a TOTW/Icon player. Although I play well in most games I just get hit on the break with their pace and concede, or they completely do me with skill moves for the 90 minutes. I think my choice is either to accept I'm going to break a lot of controllers or finally admit defeat with FIFA now.

    The NSWE Board

I believe the large amount of money you receive after promotion is largely made up of the TV Broadcasting deal the PL clubs receive. We spent a total of £127 million of fixed fees, any more that is spent on these specific players over the next few seasons will be due to bonus clauses in the deals. For example there are rumours that we pay an extra million to Bournemouth if Tyrone Mings plays for England. If we are relegated we will receive the parachute payments as any other club would, our spending may well be limited due to the amount we spent this season; however in all likelihood players like Grealish and McGinn would leave for a hefty profit which we could invest in the team. The future currently looks pretty bright, and as I see it currently relegation isn't something we need to worry ourselves with.
  10. Chances are this is just a rumour, Villa Report are know for spouting a lot of nonsense especially over the Summer transfer window. I wouldn't worry yet.
  11. Question for everyone... If we were in the Championship this season, but with the squad we have now assembled, do you think we would run away with it?
  12. Agreed, I described Wesley as a 'Beast' on Saturday, as I also did against Everton. It's generally a term used when a player puts in a physically dominating performance. Other players in the PL that could be described like this on their day would be Kane, Haller, Wood, Benteke, players capable of holding their own against center backs. You could also use the term for centre backs, i.e. Engels has been a beast in the air this season. The other common use of 'Beast' would be to describe someone being prolific, for example Aguero, Aubemyang, Pukki, Abraham, Sterling, Vardy could all be classed as a beast in the box so far this season. In no way is the term used because of the colour of a players skin. There's three main types of racism in football right now,. There's blatant racism seen in Italy and at times in the PL such as Chelsea. There's racial connotations as we've witnessed this week, racism that's not in your face but should by no means be accepted in football. Then there's over hyped racism, where people are viewing things as racism for the sake of it, i.e. the use of beast, people comparing other players due to physical appearance. Glad the club have dealt with this swiftly.
  13. Fabian Delph withdrawn from the England squad. Surely Jack should be in line for a call up now?
  14. Outstanding on Saturday, so calm on the ball allowing us to play out with ease. I didn't realise from the stands just how well he did lying over the ball to keep it from the Norwich players. The goals as others have mentioned was a comedy of errors. McGinn should never have passed it back to Mings from that position, especially not in the air as he did. Mings should never have lobbed it back to Heaton, it should have been on the floor ready for him to play out. Heaton, and you can't really blame him, couldn't see the ball due to the sun; I spent the whole second half struggling to see with the sun above the stand we were playing towards. The Mings/Engels combination is still solid, and the team around them is slowly getting better. Nakamaba in front cut's out so much danger and Guilbert and Targett are proving to be great additions at full back.
  15. One of the best players on the pitch on Saturday. Going forward he is like a winger, links well with the midfield, great passing ability, can cut inside or whip in a cracking cross. Defensively he is sound, he is physical and taller than I thought meaning he's strong in the air. An all round improvement and really strengthens the left hand side to our advantage.
  16. I was at Norwich on Saturday, the crowd sang 'Wesley's on Fire' during game. He loved it.
  17. That's actually a really interesting stat. Other than the goals he has scored I didn't realise he had taken many other shots. McGinn seemed to be firing shots at goal every 5 minutes in previous games.
  18. Surprised by the posts regarding him not being good enough and that he should be a sub. I'm not really sure what he has to do to prove the doubters wrong. Whilst he isn't a midfielder on McGinn's level with the ball at his feet, his productivity pays for itself ten times over. Combine that with a lot of off the ball running that often goes unnoticed, harassing players in the midfield and applying pressure along with useful runs into the box as seen for the second goal and penalty win on Saturday.+ There's no doubt about it we are a much more dangerous team with Hourihane in the first eleven and it's now upto Douglas Luiz to prove he can perform consistently to displace him. I think it's likely Luiz will be better off playing in the midfield two rather than the deep role that Nakamba is now dominating. Just looking at Hourihane's records shows how productive he really is, and it's productivity we miss (from range and set pieces especially) when he is out of the side. 2019/20 - 7 games - 4 goals - 1 assist 2018/19 - 50 games - 9 goals - 11 assists 2017/18 - 49 games - 11 goals - 2 assists 2016/17 - 47 games - 7 goals - 15 assists (Aston Villa and Barnsley) 2015/16 - 47 games - 10 goals - 14 assists (Barnsley) 2014/15 - 51 games - 14 goals - 14 assists (Barnsley) Hourihane is now Aston Villa's 99th top goalscorer, level with Darren Bent and Allan McInally.
  19. On par with them? Am I missing something or did we just beat them 5-1?
  20. Looking like redundancy is around the corner, the rumours are we have until the end of the year before closure. Was looking to move on anyway but now with a sense of urgency. Currently there are no positions I want to apply for in the local area. Any advise on what I should do next? CV is updated and in the hands of a couple of recruitment agencies, LinkedIn is updated. I'm scouring the job sites daily.
  21. Has anyone watched The Birdcatcher yet? Looks interesting.
  22. My god the last episode of Suits was one of the worst pieces of television I have ever seen. The acting was embarrassing, and the way they rushed the case was ridiculous. Such a good show that was dragged out for far too long.
  23. In fairness we've only played three and two of them were against Tottenham and Arsenal.
