Agree with most of that. Except for bit about Bailey not being good enough at this level. He clearly has talent but not the self belief/confidence. We've seen how different players can look once they find their mojo. Whether Bailey will ever find that in PL and whether he has a place in this team next season is another question. I just hesitate to right players off given events of last few months.

Yeah be interesting if Philogene gets a look in too. Just go big big on 2/3 players. If we are in Europe will need some kind of squad to rotate though. So limited for options right now.

The sample size is very small but he played the Kamara role perfectly today.

Ollie has been a run away MOTM and I think deservedly so. I voted for Ollie but thought long and hard about him or Moreno for my vote. But the VT vote is a funny thing because genuinely every single player could have been MOTM today. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a Villa game where that’s been the case. And I’ve seen a few!

He did so much running his legs were gone with 20 mins to go but he still managed to positively effect the game. He gave every single thing he had today and then quite a lot more as well. He was a hero today but just one amongst 11.

Thought he was genuinely outstanding today. For a man that hasn’t played since November and been injured to boot I wondered whether he’d last the pace given how fast we started but he was just terrific the whole game. Don’t remember him losing the ball. Said before the game that this was a massive test for him whether he could be a part of this squad moving forward but he passed it with flying colours.

I know! She’s desperate to go again but I’ve been going for 30yrs and that’s one of the best 90mins performances I’ve seen from us. Next game is sure to be a disappointment for her!

I LOVE how that one game meant so much to you that you still put so much of your life into this club 24 years later. I took my daughters best friend to the game today. Her first ever game and what an experience. I bought her a Villa top in the shop before the game and she was so excited but it went through the roof the minute the game started and Ollie hit the post. Every minute after that was electric. We had a 3hr drive home after the game and she was buzzing. Told me how she could still hear the songs in her mind and see McGinns tackles. Just a beautiful thing. She’s 11 and had the time of her life.

That's because Scott Sinclair pays everyone to keep their mouths shut. But you are right - it isnt the real problem but one of the many problems that shows just how much they have cheated there way to all this success. People call Haaland a cheat code but truth is they've had it for years and as ever its always the money that hides the real cheating.

Zaha is exactly the type of player we want except as with Barnes discussion the other day he is LW rather than RW which would block off Moreno in our current system. Also injuries would be another concern, seems to have missed a few games this year.

Hadn’t realised the whole stand would be a closed for a year. Guess that’ll make getting tickets very difficult for non season ticket holders. I’m currently a member and usually don’t have a problem and generally get to 7/8 home games in a year. But as season ticket holder numbers won’t change won’t be many to go round everyone else.

Unai will run his eye over all these youngsters and a good eye it is too.

Williams looks to have a lot of potential but for me you always to have to uplift players who have proved they can do it in PL because that is always a massive ? against any new signing. This league finds so many players out. For that reason I’d go Johnson and even put Bowen above other two if West Ham happened to go down.

I’d agree Traore deserves a shot but a bit of me really wants to see what Duran can do given a start. Got a feeling him and Watkins would cause havoc. No idea how long he’d last but might be worth 50min or so.

100% agree with this. He's always struck me as a great player. Dont see it happening because he is a LW and he'd be getting in way of Moreno in our system. If we were really big time (eg in CL) and wanted to have option of switching up system so we could have a really attacking RB too and Barnes too maybe it could work. Dont see that as a this summer thing. My guess is we'll be going all out on a LW/forward and a 10. I think Emery likes Buendia but 1 assist all season isn't great reading for someone in his position.

One of those games where he saw very little of the ball but delivered every time when he did. That is top level player stuff. No idea how long he (or we) can keep this up.

Agreed, I feel he OWE’s him a last hurrah in the PL trying to get the mighty Villa into the Europa Conference League.

I rewatched the game last night and he was outstanding on Saturday. Much better than I remember. I went for mcGinn Motm live but actually its a very difficult shout between Ramsey and Luiz with McGinn, Cash, Mings and Moreno just behind.

On another note, if Bailey goes down there surely its a pen. Pushes him clearly in the back and doesnt get the ball.

If it wasnt for fact that he's probably on about 300k a week and I'm always a bit wary of young prodigees entering final years of their career I'd be all over this. We also have an abysmal track record of signing "big" players on way down in their careers. Has it ever worked out? However this man LOVES Villa Park he'd score a ridiculous amount of goals if he played there all the time.
