  1. I actually thought it was Paulo Souza who started it all at Swansea. I was one who thought that he would struggle at Everton and boy is he making me eat my words t the moment. Still be interesting to see if he can build a new defence as that has always been his downfall, a bit like we get who couldn't replace the Adams defence
  2. Well city have the old board of barca. So if messi was leaving barca, city would definitely be a strong possibility, but is never going to happen.
  3. Sherwood given 18 month contract.. Seems a strange move to me
  4. Isn't it down to the manager to get players performing well? Look at the great managers, Alex ferguson, for example. He manage to get players to perform better than they actually were to get the points for there team (last seasons title victory was remarkable considering the midfield they had, which is being picked apart this yr.) Even a fairly limited (but our most successful for sometime) manager in MON was able to get the best from his players. We were all led to believe that Lambert was a great motivator, but recent performances haven't shown that. When so many players are out of form you do have to question what goes on at training.
  5. I'm not going to this and by the looks of viagogo I'm not the only one. Definitely not going to be a classic. Palace will not be scared to come at us. We need a big performance from everyone
  6. Yeah I think so and his contract was terminated
  7. Even he was released when they realised he was crap
  8. That would actually mean having a system of play that produces crosses into the opposing team's box from both flanks. That would mean having a system
  9. He was only derided because we have numerous strikers already at the club and it was thought that the money could be spent in different positions
  10. I think we'll go(not what I would do) Guzan Lowton Clark Baker Luna Westwood Delph Kea Albrighton Kozak Bowery With Benteke bacuna sylla Gardner herd helenious steer on the bench
  11. Didn't he start against stoke last yr? I know the agent quite as physical this yr, but wouldn't be surprised to see him get a run out again today
  12. As in I know I can't afford an Ashley young, I know I can't afford a Gareth Barry on loan, I know I won't have a great deal to play with in jan. And if I do, it has to be on a player with a sell-on value. Perfectly fair enough IMO for a variety of reasons. To build for the future every player we sign has to have the potential to improve from the level we buy him at. The sell on value even short term should be in our favour, long term with breaking through and establishign themselves as good prem players massively in our favour. Their wages shouldn't ever leave us in the situation where we have to wait fro them to leave in order to have funds available to cover other investments in the playing staff. All of this shoudl be considered essential in our current situation. What is our current situation though? For the last three years we have been selling off the high earners, yes we may have a couple of unwanted ones left. Surely the wage bill has been reduced a considerable amount to cope with the addition of one experienced quality player to aid the team moving forward?
  13. Scrooged with bill Murray is class, love actually is a chick flick that I am happy to watch. My sister always made us watch Santa Claus the movie with dudley Moore. It's not very good but sort of ingrained to watch it now
  14. I think hiddink would be good. He did well in the short time at Chelsea
  15. I know it's a risk considering his injuries but rodwell was on the bench for city last night. May be worth a shout on loan
  16. Thats about where I am. all the hype but he has never had a good game (or appearance) for the first team. The usual problem with young players in they can't turn it on, week in week out - but at first team level we have yet to see a sparkle even infrequently.... I can understand where you are coming from, as you rightly point out we haven't really seen him play well for the first team. The thing for me is that he made his name at youth level as a midfielder with a good strike on him who could run in behind the strikers and get into the box. When he did make his first team bow it was in a defensive role where his attributes couldn't be highlighted. If (and let's be honest none of us can tell yet) he can bring those attributes into the first team then he may be a useful addition to the squad. Lets be honest none of our current incumbents offer those things.
  17. If players can't cope with a few moans and groans from a crowd then I would question whether they would make it at the top level. Virtually every player will receive criticism, be it from home or away fans. It is up to the player to prove those critics wrong. For example look at gabby, he normally plays best when the opposition fans are giving him gip "moms a whore etc" thus rubbing the criticism back into them. I think villa fans have been very patient, even when mcleish was in charge, it wasn't until feb/march time that full vocal dissatisfaction was shown. The last few games at home have been truely woeful and therefore I can't blame some fans for showing their feelings. It is up to the players to put in a good performance to get the crowd going.
  18. I said at the start of the summer transfer thread that the 4 main positions we needed to strengthen were; lb, cb, dm, am... We got 2 of those ( let's not discuss the merits of those here), so I'm hoping (not expecting) we now get the dm and am needed. Be it loan or permanent signings we need those players to aid the defence and supply the attack
  19. One of his strengths last yr was his off the ball running, used to stretch other defenders giving the beast more space. Not doing that as well this yr which is resulting in congestion in the middle
  20. Lilly savage has done a write up in him. Obviously from that word removed it isn't very good. Only interesting stat was that he is getting virtually the same amount of chances than last yr (just over 2 per game). Last season everything he hit turned to gold, this yr its just not working. He will come good again I'm sure of it. He is starting to make intelligent runs again, just needs the right pass
  21. I thought against utd he improved a bit from previous performances but was still miles away from where he was last yr. I think a goal will boost confidence and get him, just needs that lucky strike or deflection. Even when he was scoring this yr, he didn't look the best he can be, think his head is definitely turned and will be off.
  22. Playing devils advocate but you could argue that vlaar and Clark have improved due to get used to the prem (coming from foreign/youth leagues respectably). You could also argue that Delph has improved because he is now fully match fit after being out with long term injuries. Finally you could also say that Westwood hasn't improved as he still is poor off the ball.
  23. Tom Ince would be a waste of money and time. We play too narrow for wingers No way, Tom Ince would be great for us. He comes inside a lot as well as staying on the wing and would be great for a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2. He's also a very confident player and i think he would really fit into our team. For around 4m he would definitely provide value for money and improve our current first team as well as the squad Why would he only be 4m?
  24. If villas boas is sacked would anyone want him here?
