  1. For me the answer would still be yes, let them sign him. I would prefer my hypothetical son to have a professional career irrelevant of who he played for.
  2. I meant the later...so yes you would play. Even if I was on on £5k a week, still farweighs what I would earn normally.
  3. In a hypothetical way, if you were offered the chance to play as a pro footballer but the only club who would sign you were Birmingham would you sign? For me it is a no brainer, get paid loads to play a sport that you love..even if it is the team we all hate. Just interested in what some people would do and how much the hatred stretched...My uncle in his wisdom when young turned down a contract at the wolves (him being an albion fan).
  4. David Beckham? James Collins won official MOTM. Thought we played well today, one thing that we concerns me though, we tend to sit back in games and invite teams to have a prolonged period of attacking us, we did it today and did it against city. Yes they are good sides and will have periods throughout a game, but I think if we pushed forward more, we will make it abot easier on ourselves.
  5. Bary did play there for a few seasons, but as he has the cm position, couldnt really include him twice
  6. Square peg in city centre opens at 9... you can then get the bus from right outside to the ground.
  7. From what I can recall we mainly played 442 thoughout the decade, so think it would be fair to have the team in that formation. If strikers arent always good enough, attacking midfielders could also be put into that position.
  8. I think before the arguement reoccurs about Barry being a Judas, people have to think how good a player he was for us. There were many years when he was playing on the left wing that we had the quote "right player, left side" (or left side right player - I cant remember), remember when every England squad didn't include him and we were outraged... There can only be one winner imo for the centre mid spot. As has been said before, Merse and Tayls had their best years at the club in the 90's.
  9. I notice you have put L Young on the LB list but you didn't put olaf in as rb...hardly an unbiased approach to selecting the true team of the 00's..think olaf would have been a very close bet at rb which wouldve changed the cb selection... I have gone for freddie on this one though... wrighty was a good little player but think he mainly shined in 90's
  10. General, Received my FREE ticket for the cardiff game today. Would just like to say thanks, terrfic jesture by the club and shows a great attitude to the fans.
  11. Although Olaf was a superb player for us, I wanted him at RB for the team of the decade...Southgate was a tremendous player, and what he lacked in pace his intelligence made up for it..The epitomine of a world class player and although a close call I have gone for the gate.
  12. I have voted Delaney, but thought big olaf would there...
  13. I have done loads of coaching and played in many teams. NRC may not be the most technical player but has great leadership skills. (This isn't school football where your best player is also the captain.) If he hasn't then how come he was the premiership's youngest captain (I think Cesc Fabregas has now taken this mantra)? Captain of England U21 at the age of 19? Hmm but no your right I have never been in a team and dont know what makes a good captain.
  14. NRC would make a very good leader, but for some reason he doesn't get many starting berths, so would be pointless to have him as captain. As such I have said Carew, think if fit he will play and he has that talismatic effect on the crowd, which in turn would get the players going. He could be Martin Johnson...after all who would want to argue with him?
  15. ITV has David Pleat...the bloke is a blithering idiot..always says evrything incorrectly..hate watching football on the tv listening to him. As we aren't in the Champions League, luckily we don't get him commentating on us very often.
  16. Even though our form has been poor recently I don't think sacking MON would be worthwhile. Teams need time to be built, Everton nearly went down, after Moyes' first few seasons, but they stuck by him and as such have had the rewards in recent years. Look at how Ferguson was at the beginning of his reign and we all know how that materialised. Honestly don't think sacking the manager is the way forward, especially as there are not really any others around who could do much better. Think MON needs help with transfers though as it does seem an area where he struggles, even though technical directors don't always work I think it would be ideal in our situation. MON could give the person a list of players for each position he would like to have at the club, it would be then down to this technical director to get one/two players for each position. This would give MON more time to do the things that he is best at eg motivating players.
  17. If L young not fit, I would like to see: ------------Guzan-------------- Lichaj---Cuellar-----Davies----Shorey -----------Petrov----Delph------------ Albrighton----Milner--------Young ------------Carew-------------- Heskey,Friedel, Sidwell, Beye, Agbonlahor, NRC,Delfounso Think Beye has a knock and so may not be fit.
  18. I wish Cuellar was at cb, think him and davies need some games together to form a partnership.. anyone know know why l young is out again? is he injured?
  19. Superb goal 2 one twos and then a very calm finish.. SSN keep saying brennan...they'll have to learn as him and albrighton look destined for stardom.
  20. good goal, watch sky sports news and it shows the replays... we have just changed the formation to 442 with cuellar at rb
  21. Just heard on sky sports new, P'boro are totally outplaying us at the moment and looking far more confortable than us. We are playing 5 at the back and at the moment we are coping in this formation
  22. Hi General good to hear that you are on the mend and starting to feel fresh again. I am keen admirer of clubs, developing youngsters and bringing them through the youth set up, into the first team. Obviously our local academy is pretty successful which is great for the club and its future. I was wondering if the club is thinking of setting up any links with schools/colleges/clubs in the USA? Obviously football (soccer) is growing over the there and it would be nice to see if we could get some of their potential stars into our youth academy. Secondly I was wondering what your opinion was on the current financial climate in football. Do you think that the amount of money that the likes of Man City/Real Madrid are spending is extortionate? What do you think the implications of this spending will be? Once again, best of luck on a full recovery, and lets hope for another sucessfull year for our great club.
