  1. He has got to be worth a fair amount of value to us now. In the summer he could be a 15 goal a season championship 23 year old attacking midfielder. He must be in the £5 to 10 mil bracket if he carries this form into the second half of the season.
  2. Oddly, I thought exactly this at the game yesterday, as Bella was dancing around the touchline pre match.
  3. I've gone for Kamara. I'm not sure that he's underrated necessarily but he is so important to so much of the positive we have done. It is the thankless role isn't it, the breaking up of play and the transition of the ball forward when in possession.
  4. 38 league places between us. I wonder the last time the gap was this big.
  5. If you believe that a title race is an ongoing thing throughout the season, in the same way that the relegation battle starts in August, then we are undeniably in a title race. Until I suppose we are 6 or 7 points adrift of the front runners. You can say that we are in a title race but we very very likely won't win it.
  6. Has there ever been 10 home wins for a Premier league game week, like this one so far?
  7. Yes, it's 6 games against teams 7th down to 20th, with the two highest placed teams completely out of form. 13 to 14 points would be great, and certainly doable.
  8. Oh wow, hadn't appreciated that, cheers.
  9. The Arsenal and Spurs games were by design, not lucky. Well I suppose its how you interpret luck. Son had a hat trick of offside goals, but that's just the same as having no goals because it's the way we let the strikers play against us. We also let them run out of steam and then hit them. I saw after the Arsenal game people say that they dominated us with shots and possession. Well yes, but we were also winning for 95 of the 100 minutes.
  10. The problem with finishing 6th now is that it means we play the second half of the season like an 8th or 9th placed team. So we would have done 14 months as 2nd or 3rd best team really consistently and then next 5 months as upper mid table standard. I'd stretch to 5th being seen as progress but any lower and we will have regressed.
  11. I'd grow the grass extra long just to make sure we beat them.
  12. That was the weirdest thing in the ground yesterday. I was at the other end fir the Diaby goal and asked the bloke next to me if it was a goal. He said he didn't know. A minute after the ball hits the back of the net, the scoreboard hasn't changed, the goalscorer hasn't been announced, the players and ref are all stood around looking clueless. It effectively takes away the main point of football.
  13. Wouldn't Arsenal and Man City likely be above us too?
  14. It's got to the point where you start to wonder how the likes of Newcastle and Man U can finish above us. Either of them would have to turn into us for the second half of the season, and we would have to turn into them. It seems increasingly unlikely that it happens.
  15. Was it a coincidence or a tactic today that so many of our shots were aimed for the top corner rather than low, even the penalty?
  16. I don't understand what this means though. Why have the likes have Man City been dropping points then? Conceivably, we might have just gone through our weakest phase of player availability this season. It could be that in a months time we have Digne, Kamara, Tielemans, Pau Torres, Cash plus 2 new signings all available in addition to what we've had across the last 3 league games.
  17. If we'd held on against Man U, beaten Sheff U, Bournemouth, Wolves and Forest like we should, then we would be 13 points clear at the top and basically have the league wrapped up by now.
  18. It was a poor miss but the pass from Konsa was bouncing.
  19. That feels to me like the most important win of the season. I couldn't care about the nature of it we just needed the 3 points and to get back to winning ways. Thanks for such a great year Villa. Onto 2024.
  20. Watkins birthday today. Come on Ollie, make it a happy one.
  21. Not at all. You absolutely take a one nil with a Burnley own goal and then regroup for the fixtures in the new year.
  22. Bbc have done an article on the title race. No mention of us but plenty of focus/discussion on Tottenham. Oddly then right at the bottom they have percentage likelihood of the title winners and we are currently ten times more likely to win the league than Tottenham.
  23. Why if we go joint top on Saturday, what would be the basis for it? We also likely won't be anywhere near as weakened team wise as we have been in the last week or so.
  24. Well ye, everyone's conceivably in the picture especially at the height of a good run. I'd rather target teams that we are vying with for defeats for now.
