  1. Have we got close to a full team to chose from for this, barring Kamara suspended and Buendia and Mings?
  2. Anyone know why we play 7 league games in December and 2 in January?
  3. Man City just beat that team by having 25 shots to the other teams 2. By my maths, we would have about 87,468 shots against that other team if we played them.
  4. It's a weird time to suddenly make that assessment. In the last two months we've transitioned into one of the most talked about clubs in Europe. There's huge scope for expansion of the fanbase if the current team performance is sustained.
  5. I think this. I don't think this is a game where we over exert ourselves. And that's not disrespectful to Sheff U, that's just the way they'll come and set up. It'll be a more patient, probing game, like Luton at home was. Brentford and Man U away are more high energy games. We have been quite fortunate that Sheff U and Burnley at home have fallen across this busy late Christmas period.
  6. Would be great if both Liverpool v Arsenal games were a draw.
  7. Plenty of people say this in every pre match thread. We'd be about 15th in the league if up to most on here.
  8. Yes it was an error, and they knew they made it when they said it. It's just a great example of the lack of interest in the detail of Villa though.
  9. Yes most are now to be fair. But there's so little knowledge about us I suppose because we've been unfashionable for so long. I just watched a 50 min review of the weekends games by the two Robbies for NBC. They discuss our game for 1 minute and say that Emery had a tough job at Arsenal because of Wenger leaving, and that we will be stronger once Nkunku returns from injury.
  10. Since we last dropped a point at home, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Man City have dropped 39.
  11. On top if it too is the fact that we have an extra day to prepare/rest, as they are away at West Ham three days before. And also we should have a less energy intensive game in Sheff U, fingers crossed, whereas they are competing with West Ham for league positions.
  12. It's not necessarily that it's a disappointment as it's a league place improvement on last season and European football again. But what it would be is a really noticeable drop off in the results we have been getting and the way we've been playing for the last year. It would mean us going from about the 2nd best team in the league for the last year, to about 8th or 9th best, so achieving Chelsea, West Ham kind of results.
  13. Pundits part not understanding what we are doing and part trying to dismiss it in their own minds. Villa will tail off because they don't have any squad depth. They only beat Man City because they had a couple of injuries and a suspension. ??????????????
  14. The funny thing too is that a few I the media said after the man city game and then Arsenal game that we've peaked. The way I look at it is that we are getting better if anything. Particularly now with the away results of late.
  15. We've sold out the best part of 5k three weeks ahead of Middlesbrough away. I hadn't appreciated that level of out away support. I suppose its an opportunity for those who can't get access to league aways.
  16. I think in any other phase of time, oil goes to 120 on the Israel story, but it didn't have the belief to go through 100 on the weak demand feel. Same as energy.
  17. Gas and power although gas has a couple of forwards in triple digits. All fuels are weak right now. Scepticism around demand at high prices is really evident.
  18. I saw an article on how players across the "top 6" are performing this season, and it referred to Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool. I wonder at what point that top 6 doesn't exist any more? It's very likely that we will have a second successive league season above Chelsea, probably Tottenham too.
  19. It's what you prioritise isn't it to some extent. Worryingly I also think that many people are oblivious to prices and costs and are just carrying on as they always have.
  20. Yes but the wholesale price has dropped 20% in the last three weeks, and there's very little supporting it now. The Russia threat has gone and we have had a mild winter so far. Stocks too at record levels in Europe. So they won't have factored this in as fresh. Either way, it'll be that test as to whether they factor back out price proportionately to how quickly they built it in. I'm guessing they won't.
  21. Energy prices should fall pretty aggressively next year, if it were to link to the wholesale market like they say. There are no triple digit prices on the power screens now, for the first time since about May 2021. We are much lower than double the old prices pre energy crisis. 2022 averaged more than quadruple for instance. Should return to old prices early in the new year if current trend continues.
  22. It's not just that, they're also clearly under instruction to play at about half a normal match speed.
