  1. The mood and location were very good. The start of the 3 months of darkness is very much a metaphor for what the case will undoubtedly bring. It's interesting that we've very different opinions of the leads, and I see where you're coming from. With the character similarities though I do think it's set up on purpose for the younger lead to eventually take over from the older. I really don't agree on the music though. Billie Eilish theme? No thanks. The background music is just a little too much, too "jumpy", for my liking. Just my opinion though. I will watch the next few episodes though, as I so much want to like this.
  2. Had to go for 12 Jimmy Rimmer, Nigel Spink, Ken McNaught, Allan Evans, Gary Williams, Kenny Swain, Denis Mortimer, Sid, Des Bremner, Gary Shaw, Tony Morley, and Peter Withe. Simple enough reason. I do think a lot of that squad are massively underappreciated and do not have the renown they should outside of Villa simply because they were unfairly excluded from the national team because they weren't mates with the right people. Especially Mortimer, Cowans, Swain, Shaw, and Morley. Edit. I personally love Jimmy Rimmer. The first dog my Dad got after I was born was called Jimmy because of him.
  3. For those that are more politically savvy than I, and most who post here are, if the government lose the vote on Rwanda tomorrow would that be the end of Sunak? With all the Tory (extreme) right wing in favour of more Draconian amendments, and the resignations today, is this something that really could happen? I read in the guardian that it's a possibility, but I think that's more in hope than actuality.
  4. Really, really, really disappointed by the first episode of true detective season 4. The dialogue is hammy and spoon feeds the audience like you would an infant, a dancing ghost gets you further into the story, and the music is awful. I really hope it improves. The only good thing is Jodie Foster, but some of her exposition is awful. I'm not going to labour a point as I don't want to spoil anything. All I'll say is that it's not quite as bad as season 2, but that's not a high bar. Also a bit disappointed that the two leads are essentially the same character, just different ages. Both strong, clever, capable, and dour characters. No Marty and Rust combination
  5. There's no chance the FA would move from Southgate the yes man to Mourinho. Only last summer he was chasing the ref through the car park after the Europa final. It'd be brilliant if they did though.
  6. I don't disagree that they'd have a good chance of staying up, but that's only because the other 3 teams down there with them are so poor. In previous years when the gap in quality hasn't been so huge a 20 point deduction would guarantee relegation for anyone in the bottom half of the table.

You sound really low, have you told someone who's close to you how you feel? If you can't speak to them look for the number of the local crisis team, they'll listen. I've struggled with my mental state for years, and I found that speaking to a professional helped in the long run. I sincerely hope you get through this.
  8. Not what I said. I credited De Bruyne with being a great player. Never mentioned Pep. Please read the post more thoroughly.
  9. As much as Man City are breaking football, KDB is some player. How he's never been in consideration for a Ballon D'Or is beyond me, I don't think there's been a better midfielder in this country since Bobby Charlton hung up his boots. Incredible, and has been for years.
  10. He's statistically the worst Premier League (Sky Sports TM) manager of all time, for any manager with over 200 games in the league. Other than Hull no club remembers him fondly. He's berated and ran down the fans at every team he's been at. He's neither a good manager or a good human being. The only people that like him are his mates in the media. He never takes the blame when things go wrong, but he was quite happy to receive praise when we won. He loved digging at anyone who questioned his ability when he got a win. If it wasn't for his media mates I don't think his managerial career would have been half as long. And regarding his time with us, he'd assembled a squad with the highest spend ever for a Championship club and still failed. If we'd spent to our means whilst he was manager I dread to think where we'd have ended up. Any well organised team would play us off the park. We also had this young talent named Jack Grealish who he struggled to get anything out of....
  11. I can't find a link to the story, but what I'd read a few years ago was that one of his properties was covered in mold, and the single mother renting it was in hospital with her two sons who'd got infectious eczema, likely caused by the mold. She fell behind on her rent payments, and he took her to court to get her evicted, whilst also claiming the money back from the government. This may not be entirely accurate, but it was quite a big story at the time.
  12. To be fair, if it was a player like Neves, Milkovic-Savic, or Brozovic agitating for a move away then I'd want us to be all over it. It's just that it's Jordan Henderson, who isn't very good.
  13. I agree it was a pen, but when VAR is running it's one the officials will look and say it's not an obvious error, depending on which badge is on the shirt.
  14. He's either knowingly lying, or is so far out of touch he has no idea of the reality everyone is facing. On reflection, it's probably both. Laura K actually raised this with him, and he just said everyone is getting tax cuts, even though we all know he's giving a little back and taking a lot more, whilst cutting public services further. I wish he was called out more on this BS.
  15. Rishi on Laura K this morning declaring that he's going after the welfare state next. Going after the most vulnerable. What a champ. He's absolutely in denial about the state of the country. When Laura pressed him a few times on tax we saw the snippy side of him. Pure arrogance in a child's suit.
  16. I think Tielemans came into the team when teams started playing the low block against us. We missed him tonight, he's one of the players we have that can still create in those conditions, and bring our forwards into the game more. Onwards and upwards at least. Happy to be through. Utd away next round?
  17. I loved the old Mario games right from the NES upto the N64 version, but one thing that's always bothered me, and may be for the "things you often wonder" thread, is why are they called the Mario Bros? Is that their last name? So it's Mario Mario and Luigi Mario? I've googled and there's no canon reason I can find.
  18. Apply this logic to the Juventus team of the 90s, or the Real Madrid team of the mid 00s or early 10s. Both fantastic teams that didn't dominate their leagues and cups because the of the behemoth Milan and Barca clubs that existed, and both could be accused of financial and performance enhancing doping. They still won the occasional trophy though. Bit of repeated history there. It's the same with Man City now. The simple reason Liverpool haven't won more trophies is because of them. You can still acknowledge Liverpool as a bloody good, and successful, team that will be remembered for the football they played. The same as the Juventus team with Baggio and the Madrid galacticos, great teams that didn't win as much because there was a better team.
  19. There's an argument that they didn't make as many finals due to focusing on CL and competing for the title. For all the talent, for quite a few years their squad wasn't nearly as strong as it is now.
  20. Not just reconsider, but write the investment off and close the club. Make back what you can selling the land. Got to be worth £2.50 and a mars bar at least.
  21. There's no chance they'll appoint a PL level manager, which I'd include Cooper in. We were one of the biggest clubs in the championship when we were there, and we could only attract Di Matteo and Bruce before being successful with Deano. Blues now are not even half as big as we were at our most recent low ebb. They won't get a coach relatively successful at Prem or top of the Chamionship level, no matter how many trillions their owners have.
  22. I bet Eustace is laughing his head off. It also improves his stock without having to do anything. Forever circling the drain, an embarrassment to the city. Whoever comes in next surely won't do as badly.
  23. I can't stand Liverpool fans. They've booed every decision that went against them, howled every time one of their players was fairly challenged, and harangued a ref who I thought has been good. The entitlement has rubbed off on the players too. The fans are so one eyed and biased. Not to go all Keegan, but I'd love it if they lost now.
