  1. He's proven time and time again that he's capable of it. I think we as fans lose sight of how difficult football at this level is. Literally every single player in this league, even at teams like Norwich and Watford, are brilliant players. They wouldn't be PL otherwise. But when compared to each other, they can look absolute pants because they're all operating at such a high level. In conclusion, Ollie is not and never was crap. He just wasn't quite on it.
  2. The mad thing is, the reason so many Asians wear masks in airports, around Birmingham etc is because of SARS. Now we're all doing it because of SARS-2. They've been through this before and were prepared. Back on topic: Philippe knows what it's like to throw away the adoration of fans and potential legendary status for easy glory, and he didn't like it. I only hope he's learned from that mistake. Also it's probably been said before, but it's funny how Coutinho left Liverpool for crazy money, who used that money to improve their whole team and kick on. Now Jack has left us for crazy money, we've gone and done the same thing, in part by (hopefully) buying the same guy who's sale improved Liverpool. It's almost poetic.
  3. I get the feeling that regardless of what he thinks right now, after he's retired he'll look back on his decision to leave with regret. Some things are worth more than money and plastic trophies in the long run.
  4. If you remember this summer before he left, we almost universally agreed that we wouldn't sell him for anyone, not even prime Neymar. Never has a player been put on a pedestal and worshipped by an entire fanbase like Jack was, with the exception of Messi at Barca. He was utterly priceless to us. I think about that and wonder if he really knew. I can't imagine anybody giving that up for anything, even trophies and glory.
  5. Ultimately, what he does with his life is his business as long as he's not hurting anybody. He's likely throwing away a long career at the top but if that's not what he truly wants, that's up to him.
  6. I read about this phenomenon somewhere. It was found to be true in most cases that when siblings okay the same sport from a young age, the youngest ends up being the better sportsman. The conclusion reached was that athletes are naturally competitive types, so as the elder siblings improve, the younger ones use them as a target to surpass. They also get the chance to witness their elder siblings' mistakes and learn lessons from them. There's no guarantee and it's not fair to put down JJ or put unnecessary pressure on AJ, but the research backs it up.
  7. Thrilled for him. He has always looked like he was in touching distance of being the real deal. If he starts finding the net regularly, he'll be the real deal.
  8. I don't know much about his managerial career beyond the time he signed Ali Dia.
  9. Cracking first touch too. Brilliant
  10. Grab yourself a cuppa, get comfy, go back about 50 pages in this thread and enjoy. It's an absolute hoot.
  11. I often wonder what Mings would've made of him had they ever been in the same team.
  12. We're a Little Paladin away from a kid-friendly D&D party.
  13. I'm so happy that we're at a point now where I can watch this and see the funny side. We're a million miles away from the disgrace that we were back then.
  14. The word "can" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. I'm sure I "can" score a goal in the Premier League in theory, doesn't mean I'm ever going to. At any rate, it'd be a shame to see him leave as he'd be quality cover. I don't blame him if that's not what he wants, though. It's just a shame he's going there of all places.
  15. As far as announcement videos go, this is definitely one of them.
  16. Oh come on now. You're making this up. How did you look at porn?
  17. Well they had to fill the page somehow. It was either this or a bigger font.
  18. I don't think this is a new thing tbh. Plenty of people are fans of players rather than clubs, and that's always been the case.
