He's proven time and time again that he's capable of it. I think we as fans lose sight of how difficult football at this level is. Literally every single player in this league, even at teams like Norwich and Watford, are brilliant players. They wouldn't be PL otherwise. But when compared to each other, they can look absolute pants because they're all operating at such a high level. In conclusion, Ollie is not and never was crap. He just wasn't quite on it.

I get the feeling that regardless of what he thinks right now, after he's retired he'll look back on his decision to leave with regret. Some things are worth more than money and plastic trophies in the long run.

If you remember this summer before he left, we almost universally agreed that we wouldn't sell him for anyone, not even prime Neymar. Never has a player been put on a pedestal and worshipped by an entire fanbase like Jack was, with the exception of Messi at Barca. He was utterly priceless to us. I think about that and wonder if he really knew. I can't imagine anybody giving that up for anything, even trophies and glory.

Ultimately, what he does with his life is his business as long as he's not hurting anybody. He's likely throwing away a long career at the top but if that's not what he truly wants, that's up to him.

I read about this phenomenon somewhere. It was found to be true in most cases that when siblings okay the same sport from a young age, the youngest ends up being the better sportsman. The conclusion reached was that athletes are naturally competitive types, so as the elder siblings improve, the younger ones use them as a target to surpass. They also get the chance to witness their elder siblings' mistakes and learn lessons from them. There's no guarantee and it's not fair to put down JJ or put unnecessary pressure on AJ, but the research backs it up.
