  1. I can't understand a word of it, but I love this video. Especially the part where he just starts singing
  2. We are the top top echelon of clubs.
  3. No chance. He cares way too much to do something like that.
  4. Tbh it's only mad because he's currently our only striker. It's weird that literally no-one would trust him.
  5. Mad how Watkins has no votes. I was torn between him and Bailey, but I just think Leon would handle the pressure better.
  6. No fanfare, just "hey guys, we've done this". Love it. Welcome to the club!
  7. I don't watch man u play often, but I think it's worth noting that by and large man u fans are really **** stupid.

    Unai Emery

    - Damián Emiliano Martínez Romero - Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccitini As far as I know, the naming customs in all Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries are consistent. It's just cumbersome to use your entire name so they simplify it by just using the paternal name. I wouldn't be surprised if there were players around who used the maternal name instead, but you've also got people like Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro who don't use any of their surnames. Back on topic: big love to Uncle Emery, giving Villa it's mojo back.

    Unai Emery

Gerrard said stuff like "<insert team here> should beat us". Unai came in and said "uh, no, actually" and the players were like "oh right, ok". It's that simple.

    Paul McGrath

We know better than to tarnish the great man's thread with fish puns. Also, I think all that can be said about McGrath has been said already. He is humble and has never coveted the spotlight, and this thread reflects that.
  11. I was on the fence about whether or not his behaviour was acceptable, but now Souness has come out and criticised him, I'm certain there's nothing wrong with it.
  12. I'm pretty sure the whole Argentina team immediately surrounded him on the halfway line.
  13. Messi is literally the reason I'm interested in football at all. I could never find the interest to pay attention until I saw him play. He makes football look like art. I saw the whole sport in a new light because of him. To see him finally win the world cup is truly great, and the fact a Villa player was a major reason why is the icing on the cake.
  14. I don't know if it's just romanticism on my part, but I imagine now he's won the world cup and achieved his dream after saying numerous times how grateful he was to Villa for giving him his chance, he will be inclined to repay the favour by sticking around and leading us to glory. Our next step should be to hand him the captain's armband, not only because he is the ideal candidate for it anyway but because it would solidify that commitment and give him more reasons to stay than not to.
  15. I was making a joke about Nyland being responsible for Argentina winning the world cup, but ok.
  16. Caught in the moment for sure. Things like this should be excused when endorphins and adrenaline are firing like crazy.
  17. If this didn't happen we likely would've been relegated, Emi wouldn't have come to Villa, he wouldn't have been selected for Argentina and he wouldn't have been able to carry them to three trophies in a row. When you think about it, both Emi and Messi have a lot to thank Nyland for.
  18. He really is in his element in a shootout. He was even grinning when the Netherlands scored. Absolute madman.
  19. That guy slapping the wall wants to be careful he doesn't knock the stadium down. Emi made a brilliant save today. He's back to being king of the world.
  20. We've been linked with QPR's Ilias Chair again. I think we should sign him for no other reason than his middle name is Emilian. He'd make a nice addition to our collection.
  21. Olsen doesn't have credit in the bank like Emi does, unfortunately.
  22. You could argue March wasn't aware of his surroundings either. Neither one of them looked at anything but the ball. Had Digne been half a second quicker to the ball, March could've snapped his leg. And most people will argue for the outcome that favours them in any situation. I'm sure I'd be saying different if I were a Brighton fan, but honestly I don't think this is a clear-cut incident and it would've been really harsh to give a penalty here.
  23. But there was barely anything in it. Also, March was the one who mistimed his tackle because it bounced off Digne's leg and landed at the foot of a Villa player (Kamara?) anyway. It's not like March had the ball and Digne was trying to get it off him. It was a loose ball and they got to it at roughly the same time. I can see why there's a discussion, but it certainly isn't obvious.
