    i think he is more suited to the no.10 role (of all the roles he can play), but: 1. in a team that is more direct and lower possession, a quick back to front type team. 2. No.10 in a team that cant actually afford a top level no.10 (aka: lower half PL at best).

    if you had a team in the top half, that played a no.10, with high quality players around that no.10, no team in the top half would want McGinn in that no.10 role, as there are many, many, many better players who can play no.10, who are actually creative, intelligent, can control a football, can help control possession, and actually pass 5 yards competently.

    he was never a "bad player", but he is also no more than a "good player", massively overrated by many Villa fans. He is a severely limited, bottom half PL level, definitely not suited to a playing style requiring intelligence, intricate play, possession or control, he's a low possession, run around, direct tactics type of player.

    1. At least kamara will get us good money when we are forced to sell him next summer. 2. At least we will have a big crop of excellent youth players to blood, next season in the championship. 3. Carlos will be a great defender for us in the championship.

    Don't blame him tbh. He us clearly being told to coach the tactics and formation that Gerrard wants. It's just that Gerrards tactics are s***.

    with the players we have right now, i agree with this 100%. Gerrard wont do it though, and even if he did, i think he would find a way to f*** the tactics up.

    we just need a proper manager, Gerrard was a huge mistake. Smith going was the right choice, the problem is we made a huge f*** up getting Gerrard. TBH tho, i do think we have signed some very good players under Gerrard, so i will give him that, but he is incompetent with regard to tactics & formation. give me Potter or Poch pls.......i think either of those could get these players doing better.

    84m for Antony, is he really worth it?!!? Eredevise is the very example of a player is as good as you dream he "could" be, because they look good in a terrible league.

    tbh he's just a higher level Ramsey type player, not the type of player we need imo. We need a central defender, a midfielder who can help control the midfield, and whatever else we wanna spunk money at.

    i assume you mean left backs? (as they have signed 3?) They signed Omar Richards as their first choice left back, they then signed Toffolo as backup/competition. Richards got a serious injury so now Toffolo is their only real primary left back. They have now signed Lodi, to be i assume, their first choice left back? I could bee wrong, but i assume Richards is out for a fair stint as he got a leg fracture. Toffolo cost them 5m (could be less, as it was a double deal for Toffolo/O'Brien for 10m from Huddersfield), Richards 8m and Lodi a loan (4m loan fee?) - so 3 signings, of whom one has a fairly serious injury, for a few million more than we paid for Targett.

    not sure how you come to that conclusion. They have spent 141m, which is 2m less than we did in our promotion year (as of now). They were also in a similar position to us of losing many of the players who helped get them promoted (Davis, Zinkernagel, Garner, Grabban, Samba, Lolley, Figueiredo etc). They are basically a mirror copy of us in our promotion year.

    Completely agree, on paper we have made some good signings, some very good, if this squad isnt performing, its on the manager for me. Could we improve on some positions? - yes, do we badly need some improvements in some positions? - yes. However, if you write these signings down on paper, i think they are all decent/good/excellent signings: Carlos Coutinho Kamara Buendia Bailey Digne All good to excellent signings for me, the majority of our issues for me, is the managers sh** tactics and formation etc.

    Gerrard wont be gone before the window closes. We need the best team we can, for when Gerrard gets sacked and the new manager can work with our squad. Not improving our squad just because of Gerrard, would just be silly.

    saw an interesting stat that on average our first 11 id about 5ft 11, thats including ppl like Martinez and Mings in there, so it shows just how small and lightweight our squad is. We need some steel.
