a good manager finds a good balance between defence and attack, offering overall, optimal scenarios in both areas (ie: a good set of overall tactics and formation etc to balance attack/defence to give the team the best overall chances of picking up points). Gerrard just seems to think there is only two ways to play, gung-ho or ultra defensive. its depressing.

we offered 30-40m for Smith-Rowe just 12 ish months ago, and he doesnt even get in Arsenals first 11 at the moment. Thats not a slight on him in terms of his ability, it just goes to show, for me, how improved Arsenal are right now.

i think this is the first ever transfer thread where i have just looked at it, sat back, and rolled my eyes. It really doesnt matter to me who we bring in while Gerrard is here, his s*** tactics and formation will drag almost any player down. If my Christmas present is Gerrard gone, maybe we can have a positive January where we buy players for an entirely new, and not sh** formation and set of tactics, under a new, not fraud manager.

looking at what we have done with Archer, i think we are lucky that Timmy is loaned out, he needs game time, not part time on the bench, and part time not even in the squad. Dendoncker is a good blocker type player, he will prob help us over the season, not playing often etc, would rather our high potential youth are out playing regularly than having their development hindered by not getting any minutes.

400m+ spent on the squad in just over 3 years, all this nonscence talk about pushing for top 8 & Europe, having players like Luiz, kamara, Buendia, Coutinho...... Gerrard's quote after just about beating a seriously dire Southampton and playing really badly.... "We will be better in terms of style, possession and the pretty stuff, that'll come, but at the moment whats important is points, tonight we did it in a different way, we did it by grinding, by sticking together and getting over the line, we've done it in a pragmatic way today" Anyone would think we had just got promoted and had spent nothing in the transfer window, that we were fighting for our lives as betting favourites to go straight back down, but plucky Villa are fighting for our lives after little squad investment and being entirely new to the league. Gerrard is a fraud. I think McGinn accidentally spoke the truth in his interview, he said: "it wasnt a match full of ability, if i was watching on the telly i would have turned it off". Thats damning......

that was a terrible game of football. We just happened to play a team playing worse than us, my lord that was painful to watch. If Gerrard thinks anyone can take positives from that dire spectacle, he needs his head examining. Once again, the selection was just mind boggling, i think im getting to the point of not giving a f***, its like watching a car crash in slow motion.

I dunno, its like Bailey is nearly a threat, but he just cant seem to go past a man, the guy should be going past players like Djenepo did numerous times tonight. Just seems strange to see a guy known for his pace and breezing past players, cant seem to take a man on at all, ever.
