  1. So much better tonight, it really felt like that if a second goal was coming it would be from him. Work rate is very good, I saw him gave the ball away in their half and sprinted all the way back until it was clear. Also, (and this is not an attack on Gabby or anyone else), if you asked me which of our players this derby game mattered to the most, based on tonight's performances, Ayew and Grealish would be right up there. Good stuff Jordan!
  2. Subs- Bunn, Hutton, Richardson, Ayew, Sanchez, Gil, Grealish.
  3. Standard practice to give cash instead of presents at weddings these days. I can see how some could consider it rude, but I think it makes sense and at least a cash present removes the headache of what to buy them. Otherwise it's a present off a pre determined list from John Lewis or Bhs.
  4. Didn't watch the game, obviously annoyed with the result. Was there anything positive to take away from the performance? Anything at all? Other than no red cards, not being in the bottom three or that it was only one-nil?
  5. I would suggest "Diner" as a pretty watchable coming of age film. Some good early performances from Kevin Bacon, Mickey Rourke, Daniel Stern and Steve "Police Academy" Guttenberg. Decent soundtrack too.
  6. First things first, fair play to Leicester, they wanted it more. Another three points thrown away, another bloody late goal, we really have an issue with that, we have done for years. Bacuna looked terrible, I'm normally fairly supportive but I lost count of the number of times his choices and mistakes put us under unnecessary pressure. Gil and Grealish simply have to start together (why did Gil have to come off??). Same old, same old.
  7. Great goal. The one bright spot in a gloomy day for the scousers.
  8. As a general rule, even if I think it's a bit rubbish, I'd just do whatever activities are on the stag. However, if it was involving heights or something else I wasn't happy with, I wouldn't give a shit if I was the best man, I wouldn't take part. In my experience, activities are normally discussed well in advance and if anyone has any reservations they just speak up.
  9. I believe someone is forgetting England's victory in the prestigious "Le Tournoi".
  10. When I first got into football (early 90's) it felt amongst me and my friends that international football was a bit of a non event. Club first, country a very distant second. Following Euro 96 the importance of the national team felt more prevalent. I certainly have gotten very vocal when things have gone awry with England. These days I'm closer to how I was growing up, would like them to win, but not overly fussed if they do. Maybe it was the lacklustre tournament performances (2010 World Cup in particular), maybe it's FIFA generally. It most likely the fact that I support and worry about Villa every week whereas the idea of having to support Sterling, Rooney, Snakey and other players I couldn't care less about leaves me slightly numb. For me, the best thing about watching England is the decent camaraderie in the pub it brings.
  11. I'm taking this as a good sign that a thread like this can be genuinely warranted and it's another good sign that there's an argument for 4 or 5 names to gain the most votes.
  12. Are the new avatar shapes VT's way of suggesting to Villa that they go back to having a circular club emblem?
  13. Pretty much agree with everything markavfc40 has said. It's been an exciting window, it's felt like the most positive summer in years. At the very least I think it's given the club and us as fans a much needed shot in the arm. Bring on the next 34 matches, it's going to be interesting.
  14. Mainly my fault, his being level with Sinclair surprised me. I'm heading back to the Lescott thread to see if the chat has returned to Kenneth Williams. On Sinclair, do we think he's most likely going to benefit by starting with a partner alongside him, or maybe as a lone striker with Adama, Gil & Grealish behind him?
  15. Welcome Joleon. It's fantastic that he'll get to play for his childhood team. And credit where it's due to Man City for that tweet, they appear to be pretty good at media relations (that wham video is great, the east 17 one is decent too). Anyway, hoping to see Lescott score for us instead of against us for a change!
  16. So do we think they'll get around this then? BBC are saying it's "collapsed" rather than stalled which sounds a bit more final.
  17. Well again, judging by his responses he doesn't seem to care what a few of the more vocal fans (trolls) think. At the other end of the spectrum you've got Gabby who gets some abuse on social media and following his reaction to that it's speculated that he's taken it to heart. If I had to guess, I'd say he knows he hasn't been great, he would have liked to been playing good football week in week out, but he's made his millions so what's it really matter?
  18. Totally agree DDID. There's no chance in hell if I was a player I'd be on social media. I'm not a fan of his. But he is still our player and even if he were to be sold he shouldn't be receiving personal abuse or a bit of goading from anyone. While the situation is frustrating it's ultimately the club's fault he's on the salary he is. If fans want to complain, this is a much more appropriate place to vent. Judging by his responses, he does seem to have a rather flippant attitude to things which to me suggests he's happy to hang around a while longer.
  19. Ah, cheers fellas. I've elected to blank out a lot of the houllier season so that explains it. I'm still working on forgetting the majority of the following few seasons.
