  1. Baker going off made a big difference, until then the limitations of our midfield were being compensated for by our defense. Upfront Benteke was isolated, Holman ran around but was ineffective. Delph and KEA are well out of their depth, gave the ball away far to often and as other have noted, no movement from them when were on the ball and seem to dive in when tackling. Felt sorry for Westwood, he at least tried to play it around a bit.
  2. A young team will have its ups and downs and Lambert also has a knack of going for it with a do or die attitude, as Norwich fans told us. 3 points over the last two games is better than the 2 AM would have played for. As for cups not being important to a team? And we are not improving as a team from last season? bollox, even my 8 year old son can see the improvements, on the pitch and in the new found believe in the ground. UTV.......and happy Xmas

Were stayin up......were going down...were stayin up, were going down.........................cause were stayin up, this is normal for a young team, hold it together boys and girls its all part of the game. X x
  4. Tarts , like the Kylie and Jason of the football world.......UTV
  5. European Champions, the first goal was the best header i have seen this year, sometimes u just gotta let go. reckon we had a lot more possession than the Lpool game lol UTV
  6. One of the best player's on the pitch, IMHO
  7. VillA, Villa, Villa ,villlaaaaaa. Good luck to Chelsea and Doud, well beaten but well tried lads head to head. Benteke is now worth 2 quid lol. Lets **** Spurs up big time. UTV
  8. Arsenal or Spurs wouldn't pay the sort of money Benteke would be let go for, Chelsea maybe. There is not many clubs that could buy our best players off us when they have a decent length contract. Man City are the freak in it all and they could buy any player from any team in existence. We have an undeserved reputation as a selling club, we only sell at stupid prices to stupid clubs.
  9. Lambert has shown how he will play these young players ahead of established Premier League stars, that is our major selling point when we go in for these up and coming players, they know if they perform in training and look the part they will get the nod and play in the Premier League and maybe even a cup final. It also makes me want to see a little more of this Jordan Bowery fella, perhaps hes a little better than we all believe.
  10. Baker showed his worth to me in the second half of the Everton game, after Clark got sent off. He was a rock that day (well, half of it at least)

A young players form is up and down, they will need to rest at some point, the effort levels put in Saturday were immense. FWIW I think we stand a good chance against the teams that don't like or have to work at games, ie Spurs. Teams we will struggle against are those that will stay with our work rate. This season we just need to concentrate on staying in the PL, Going for and failing to get top 8 may effect the moral of this team, staying up should be the target and I think we will. That and a cup final will do me. The fans should start to come back, the teams a completely different proposition to any i have seen over the last 10 years or so, young, hungry and a joy to watch, win lose or draw.
  12. Benteke has being great, hes not the finshed article yet though, hes gonna have bad games and as long as is contract is, if he says he wants to go and the moneys right then as displayed at Genk he will sulk his way out. For me the real hero in all this is Lambert, he can spot a player like no manager I have experienced at the Villa. If any long contracts are needed then its his.
  13. Clark, Herd, Baker and Guzan look solid, as a unit they made a difference. If i had to pick one man though i think it would be Bannan, ran his little heart out UTV
  14. Mc Grath was shot physically, 90% of what he was as a player came from his reading of the game....... Baker is physically very powerful and has a fair bit of pace for such a big lad, hes also very brave, not afraid to go into to 50/50 challenges and take the risk of making mistakes, upto yet hes done very well and been lucky a few times. Not really sure how well he reads the game quite yet, that will show in how many bad decisions/ good decisions he makes in games. If he makes 10 good and 2 bad then thats great, rather than having a player who doesnt commit for fear of making a bad decision, 1 good decision, 0 bad, that type of player is 2 a penny. When he does make a mistake and cost us its how he reacts to that mistake that, for me, will decide how he will develop.
  15. 8-0 to the villa, L pool are the worst team i have ever seen and only win games when its down to their twelve men, the men in black (or is that green?) A team full of over paid has-beens and cheats.......... post that on 'Gawk' or whatever their shitty "idiot loaded" forums called. Anyway a Villa win is 8-1 at shed loads of bookies, we maybe worth a punt at those prices.......... 1-1 ;-)

    Favourite city?

1 Lisbon great working city. Nightlife and the people, love it there. 2 Florence, stunning place, stunning women 3 Paris, beautiful big city, - its very expensive 4 Amsterdam, great party city.............
  17. What impresses me about Weimman is the way he reads the game to get into goal scoring positions, he makes scoring look easy. If he can continue develop his partnership with Benteke I can see plenty more goals in him, in fact he could be our top scorer this season.
  18. No runners and no through balls. Maybe its down to the fact we havent played togethor for very long, hopefully we will start to take chances in this area of the field soon. You could see Bannan looking for the through ball but with no runners it was pointless, far to many passes going sideways with no forward options. Pressures going to be on us over Xmas now. UTV

From the moment MON walked out we seem to have been in a relegation battle. PL just took over from where AM left, the position in the league shows there has been no miracles performed, just steady progess towards a more sustainable future (IMO). This season was always going to be a battle (unless proven Premier League players were brought in) we couldnt afford to buy our way into a mid table position, clever purchases and good coaching is our way forward and the evidence of both is starting to show, at least for me. On the subject of Stoke, they look to have quite a few high earners on their books now, the wages must be close to ours.
  20. Just finished Breaking Bad .....it really is a must watch, season 4 was the best IMO, but only just. Sons Of Anarchy is now trying to fill the void left, its quite good, not quite to BB standard though. A good comedy series is Still Game, its been running for years in Scotland, it has some very funny moments.
  21. This, seeing this young team, many having come through our academy, compete in the Premier League is great. After watching ageing mercenaries be so poor, over the last few seasons, its great. For the first time in many seasons i feel like I'm getting my Villa back UTV
  22. Perhaps PL thinks we need to get another midfielder who can tighten it up a bit before we can afford to play a 4-4-2 formation with Bent and Benteke upfront. I can see the value in Bent playing around Benteke picking up from all the flick ons and passes etc that Benteke generates. ATM Benteke seems to playing on our rightside meaning whoevers playing over that side needs to be alert, he wins alot of the ball, IMO its not hurting the opposition as much as it should. I still think Bent and Benteke could work for us, just not as we are playing at the moment
  23. Breaking bad, 1st series 2nd episode was my highlight, the bathtub...... upto the end of second series now and its been very good. Sopranos Series 3 Episode 11, Pine Barrens was the highlight of the Sopranos for me. Saw em all, TV at its best IMO. Underbellys a good series as well, at least the first two, on lovefilm instant.
  24. The psychology of competing against your team mates for a chance to play seems to help Gabby perform. Bent has played with this type of pressure when he was at Spurs, it will be interesting to see how he responds to it at Villa. I would put my money on Gabby and Bent being played up front togethor as our first choice strike force, at least against the Baggies..... UTV
