  1. 90% of these players are never going to be signed, just check the profile of the type of players Lambert has signed so far, how many were even known yet alone mentioned. Foreign, cheap, unknown. How he spotted Bacuna is a mystery, add to that Sylla and Luna. Popov
  2. More players like Kosak and Bacuna please. Clean sheets and goals from all over the team are signs of an improvement, the fact we have had a difficult fixture list also affects our stats. I'm reasonably happy with our start given all the facts, it hasn't been pretty but with more experience for our players and some players returning From injuries I suspect our results could start to become more predictable
  3. If you can't gain confidence after beating arsenal or man city I'm not sure when you gain it...I suspect the quality in their play is just not consistent. You maybe right, Lambert should know why it's happening and try and change it when he can. Either way new players are not an option now so his only option is to improve what we already have. He's shown he will drop players who don't perform when given a good chance to shine, Bennet and even Lowton have both been dropped, both his signings. Bacuna was brought in and used. Given the facts we have I don't see how Lambert can be blamed atm, if he had Messi sitting on the bench or 20m in the bank then perhaps he could take some flack.
  4. Looking at last seasons fixtures were 7 points up this season in like to like games. We wasn't outplayed against Everton or Spurs, we was last season. On the downside we do have a habit of panicking on the ball when we are in possession, players need to help each other by giving the player in possession decent options to pass, we are far to static and this allows opposing teams to easily close us down and it makes us play rash balls and lose possession far to easily. Its very frustrating, its the same game after game. I suspect its the players confidence. Its isn't all roses but I do think most fans realize that Villa need the stability of a manager staying for a few years. We need to try and build something that's going to last longer than the owners money.
  5. Rather than looking to Europe to blood our players we should look at a UK based solution. Villa have pioneered before and we should look at this as an opportunity, we are the youth champions of Europe, any league we joined or help create would have that as a headstart.

    Peaky Blinders

I enjoyed it, great to see some decent drama from the BBC
  7. Dexter ending was poor, I do wonder if it is the end, bound to be some injustice he can't let go even in the forest. I will not watch it if it does come back Going to start homeland this week
  8. Ivelin Popov fits the bill, he will have a year left on his contract next summer so pressure is on for his team to sell this winter. He's been a captain at most of his clubs and Petrov could have a word to get him here.
  9. Peaky Blinders has grown on me, great episode tonight only one more to go. SOA series 6 EP 1 was ok takes some getting back into it though after BB. Boardwalk series 4 is going along very well.
  10. Walt's every move was plausible to me, he had cancer, he needed money for treatment, he needed more money, he needed to take more risks....... The beauty of it was, for me, following it through veiwers ccould understand why he made every decision. Perhaps we would all make the same decisions being in the same position, that's it's attraction. From a keek to cold blooded killer all in easy to follow steps that are reasonable to those who have watched it unfold, RIP Mr White, thanks for the journey. O
  11. Absolute nonsense. Really? He said it himself when he signed. He may see a future other than Villa to progress his own ambitions, but comments like he may well want to play for Belgium indicate that he doesn't want to play for us. He gives it 110% for us and at the end of the day, we will get a hell of a lot more than we paid for him. We are still a stepping stone though. So are Man Utd, so are Spurs. The problem with AVFC wasn't who we sold its who we replaced them with. To think we had Downing, Milner, and Young and we effectively replaced them with N'Zogbia, Ireland and Bent. Crap management/ management changes has more to do with those replacements being crap. Interesting to note that None of those 6 have had great careers since they have left or arrived. The top 2 teams in the World for players are Barca and Real, the rest are in effect stepping stones, only question is how much each steps gonna cost.
  12. Walt didn't get what he wanted in the end, Jessie's forgiving him, he wanted to die at Jessie's hands, Jessie didn't fall for it for the first and last time. Great series though. The episodes at the end of series 4 were my favourite parts, the cartel having a poolside drink and then ding ding ding..........classic two episodes that stand alongside The Pine Fields, IMO.
  13. Wow. Great performance, midfield in the second half showed great composure to hold onto the ball and relieve the pressure off the defense. Bacuna can take a decent corner and free kick, how much we he? Sylla looks like he could grow into a very good player for us.......how much was he? Kosak won nearly every header, he's a real good outlet for the long balls, it was when Andreas started running behind him for the knock ons Man city looked vunerable. Nasri had Bacuna isolated for the first 30 minutes it looked like they would score from our right, h then started to cut in rather than go down the outside and that cost them imo, why he did it heavenly only knows. Toure is a beast of a player he reminds me of patrick Vieira. The second half we just wanted to win it more than city, their players just went through the motions scored then just stood of the gas, if we can keep this belief in the team the heart they displayed was tremendous. The end of the game was unbelievable, like we had won the league lol, walking home was like a carnival, makes all the heart ache worth while, I love football ........for at least a week anyway. UTV
  14. Walt uses the ricin to poison the gangs water supply then takes the money and gives it to Jessi and the boy, he then goes to Skylar and gives himself up to the police, the Police think Jessi is missing with Hank and you see him next to the beach giving money to a drugs program orphanage. The other thing that's nagging me is the two that own Gray Matter tech, they may be in for a shock as well, this sort of all started with them cutting Walt out, he lost it with them when they came on TV, remember Walt's gift.............
  15. Bad performance but.................if we had been more cynical in our play (gone down) Spurs would have been down to ten players and we would have had a penalty, its a simple as that. Our home form is dreadful and I wonder how many Spurs fans would turn up to watch defeat after defeat, at home without deserting them or moaning so much the gaffer would be sacked before he had a chance to prove his worth. Let them have their time, last game of the season could be ours.
  16. Works hard and always looks for the ball, his luck will change and he will start to net soon imo
  17. Solid display, future captain imo ,, although he does seem to be the center of calamities at times it appears to be just bad luck

    Home Form

As andym pointed out the problem as I see it is lack of movement from our front players and midfield when were in possession, no option for a decent pass we then tend to play it back to our defense until Guzan launches it to Benteke,.............
  19. Newcastle worked very hard closing us down and competed all over the pitch, we seemed to never get a foot in the game, even when we scored. Guzan kicks to Benteke seemed to be our only outlet. There was very little movement from our players when we were in possession whch is a big worry for a young team. Pardew did his homework on how to beat our 433 and we had no answer to his tactics. Can't pick a motm, not a happy day
  20. Is he going to play tomorrow? Might back him to score anytime.
  21. 4-2 to the Villa, Newcastle to score first, Can't wait tbh, first home 3 o'clock kick off this season. UTV!
  22. Benteke is a great player, he does however owe Villa quite a lot for helping him develop. I can't think of any team that would have done for him, or any other young player, what we have. We dropped our record signing for him, he started with a new set of players, new maanger and a new found hope from the fans, this combination does not happen very often and its a factor we should consider when we name a value for him. He's hasn't played that well this season but he's still scoring for fun, hit a bit of form and he could easily be in double figures by the end of November. He may not be playing in the Champions league but he does have a world cup to go to and after a good season his value would be well over the 30m mention during this transfer seasons fiasco. Benteke and the Villa should enjoy it all while it lasts.
