  1. So the trend over the last 5 years is negative, declining. The age of retirement has increased by 2 years to 67 and will further increase to 68, so that's a 3 year increase in retirement age. The graph below, as posted before illustrates the figures for Birmingham and show no major increase in life expectancy, certainly not 3 years extra.
  2. Raising the retirement age would disproportionately affect the areas of society where the age of death hasn't increased. Kick em while their down ay.
  3. If there was entertainment in the area, shopping, cafes, resteraunts, cinemas , bowling alleys, casinos......then hopefully people wouldn't all want to turn up 10 minutes before the match and leave straight after the final whistle. Which is what I do at the moment. The Mrs could even come along and spend a couple of hours browsing the shops while I'm watching villa cement their place at the top of the premier league!
  4. Outside of match days Aston and Witton wouldn't be that busy, trains may pass straight through. Birmingham International feeds the NEC and the airport and is on the mainline to London, there's a few platforms there. Once HS2 and the metroline is complete it will be well served, even got an airport. Its unrivalled within the UK or will be .
  5. UK regulator relaxes effluent rules as water treatment firms begin running out of chemicals https://www.thechemicalengineer.com/news/uk-regulator-relaxes-effluent-rules-as-water-treatment-firms-begin-running-out-of-chemicals/#:~:text=A SHORTAGE of chemicals used,an industry group has warned.
  6. Same reporters who defend Southgate......
  7. Versatility: Watkins has shown versatility by playing as a winger as well as a striker, offering more options for his team tactically. Premier League Experience: Watkins has proven himself in the Premier League with Aston Villa, showcasing his ability to perform at the highest level consistently. Goal-scoring Record: While both players have impressive goal-scoring records, some might argue that Watkins' performances in the Premier League carry more weight than Toney's performances in the Championship. Work Rate: Watkins is known for his work rate off the ball, pressing defenders and contributing to his team's defensive efforts, which adds value beyond just scoring goals.
  8. Disappearance of the Brexit bus promising NHS funding hasn't been blamed.
  9. Population center of the UK is, surprisingly, Leicestershire. Its not really music I was relating to tbh, football and sports events would be the main area. But obviously music could fit in and if artists aren't going to visit the UK that often then maybe its better to visit one central location that can better suit the whole country. Villa Park is not going to work long term, it's struggling now and revenue generated from 40k fans is small, a few burgers stalls and pint in a plastic glass isn't going to push us.
  10. No disrespect to Cardiff, Birmingham is in the middle of the country with a huge catchment area, the largest in the country for 100 miles, (London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds , Bristol all within that radius) There's a place for a stadium in the middle of the country that can host national events, everyone travelling down to London to watch play offs, semi finals is going to date really quickly if their travelling past a stadium that can host these events and host them well. It will take some vision but all great things do.
  11. Outrun the whole England defense for his second goal, the guys a baller, if it was an England player putting that performance in the press would go mental.
  12. Could have had prime Maradona, Pele, Cruyff and Van Baston on that pitch and we would still look flat, dreadful performance. Lucky Penalty from my angle and nothing creative for Toney, Watkins or a prime Van Baston to feed off. Dunk and Chilwell.......deary deary me. Bowen like a headless chicken, Foden, Bellingham playing in the same area, no width at all and Pickford pulling an assist out of nothing (well almost) MOTM Tielemans by a country mile, for England........I'm not sure tbh.
  13. Watkins may get a chance to come on, with his movement and this midfield it would reap rewards, Toney is a pretty basic striker tbh, good, but basic
  14. What a goal, made the pass then took the return to score a cracking header.
  15. There uk figures, most of us live and work in and around Birmingham, we don't get the London weighting or the home counties extra funding.
  16. We are not living longer, it a lazy headline and it isn't going to get any better with poverty and the underfunding of the NHS Life expectancy at birth in Birmingham and West Midlands metropolitan county from 2001/03 to 2020/22, by gender https://www.statista.com/statistics/1404827/birmingham-life-expectancy-by-gender/#:~:text=For the period 2020 to,when compared to 2017/19.
  17. The infrastructure around the HS2 interchange will be unrivalled in this country, the opportunity presented by it is a complete non brainer I'm just glad SHA aren't in a position to jump ahead of us because any stadium located there is a sure fire financial success.
  18. It's not really a generational problem (just like it wasn't immigrants causing last years problems) the older generation haven't and don't cause the issue it's the inequality between the very rich and the very poor thats the issue. The media and our leaders like us arguing who's fault it is because its not highlighting the real problem, the rich wanting more of a share and taking that share away from the low level workers, hence pensions and conditions being eroded year after year, to pay share holders more money out of the profits. As for zero emissions causing it , that's just inaccurate right wing media. Wave, tidal, wind ,nuclear are all low cost after initial investment. That investment is being blocked because the whole world economy has been pandering to oil rich nations and their wealthy owners. Advancements in technology should improve everyone's lives but it's not, while millions starve some rich ****'s can fly into space! Have a nice day
  19. Isn't it the canal river trust that maintains the canal and river networks in the UK, the ones who budget is being slashed from next year?
  20. It's not a pot, the tax payers of today pay for the pensioners of today, you paid for the pensioners of your day. The promise of the triple lock is to win older voters, plain and simple. To do that while raising the age for others to retire, while life expectancy is pretty much static (lower in areas of social deprivation and poverty.......) is wrong on so many levels and just sticks another division in, culture wars 2, old V's young.
  21. Spurs made between £95m and £130m last season from match day revenue, you have away and home fans, the games changing.
  22. They are both perfect examples of why we have to push on. As for match day revenue, Spurs made £107m last year alone. 13% includes clubs like us who are pulling the figures down. If you really believe that the likes of Spurs , Arsenal have built grounds for the sake of it then I'm afraid I won't be able to convince you of the need for the club to move on, I just hope our owners are in it for our long term future and not just chapters in a history book.
