  1. The cost of the server that would be able to cope with the traffic, with the amount of wind ups they would get, would be astronomical.....IMO :winkold:
  2. I would start with this team as well, I would perhaps consider one change and that would be........Heskey for Gabby. Why? Think Heskey brings our midfield players into the game more than Gabby who tends to stretch play with his speed, leaving our midfield unable to support him. Reckon we will score first and the game will end up a draw. 2-2. This is a big game for Milner, especially if he starts in the middle, he can show the world how good he is.
  3. 4-1 to the Villa, this game is a must win if we are to challenge the top 4, Heskey to score 2. UTV
  4. I have told you what the web traffic (independent figures) are into the site, you are posting the figure for posts, which can be artificially inflated by editing the database figure or posting like a madman, or woman. http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/villatalk.com http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/coys.sportsmaestros.com Not that any of this matters, surely its common sense that a site closed to all (but the chosen few) will be less popular than one that's open to all, that's the nature of the web. Bit bored of all this point scoring TBH, the score was 1-1 on Saturday and that's all that counts for a few months, at least in my book. C ya and UTV.
  5. id say thats because most of the older members have been banged up I think its got a lot more to do with our Villa agent, Tom Hanks and his recent purge on the Illuminati. Villa also have a secret forum, so secret that it cannot be mentioned in name, you either know where to look or you don't............
  6. http://secunia.com/advisories/21442/ Check here for a security issue which will allow you to at least view the posts, a bit of work and you can also post on it. Not worth it though TBH, the COYS board is pretty dead, gets about a 1/3 of the traffic Villa talk gets and its traffic is surprisingly dropping month on month.
  7. Milner was great in the middle, the through ball for Heskeys and his own goal plus he tracked back and put some challenges in, Petrov seemed to benefit as well. Milner in the midfield could get very interesting over the next few games.
  8. They ain't that bad, just a close rival to us, although reading the press you would not think we were anywhere near them and thats the problem I have with Spurs, 'Fur Coat and no knickers' springs to mind or perhaps 'Feather coat and no knickers' Most football fans are delusional and unrealistic when it comes their own clubs. Spurs seem to have lots of these 'type of fans' working in the media, which works against them when it comes to other teams fans. Either way they have a decent team, with plenty of English talent, a principle which I for one quite like. UTV
  9. I have no doubt Everton will recover and will be top 8 come the end of the season, last season should have taught us that. They have a squad of players who have been consistent over 40 odd games in the last 4 or so seasons, thats important come March onwards. Out of all the youngsters breaking through at Arsenal, West Ham, ourselves.......... I believe Rodwell has the best chance of success. For his age he looks very steady, when he has a good game he can be the main man on the pitch, even at his age.
  10. Played reasonable well, we are however missing opportunities on the break, the wrong passes were made quite a few times and this is a worry. Overall though very pleased, would put NRC or Sidwell in the middle with Milner and Petrov for the stronger teams (drop a forward to make way) Our fans were exceptional, well done to those that made the journey. MOTM? Got to be Downing, our future star, IMO he will make a big difference when he is fully fit. Don't care who we get next TBH. UTV
  11. Is it realistic to expect to come onto a rivals forum and expect your players to be lorded over ours and meet no opposition? We have an open forum and encourage visitors and despite many opposing views, we do have reasonably decent debates. We could, of course, close the board to outside fans and be happy in our own ignorance, which suits many fans, but not all. If you want flattering accounts of your players, you need to be on your own forums, like we all are........ PS Hope you have a great season, but not as great as ours. UTV
  12. IMO, King could have been one of the best and would have challenged Rio and Terry for a place in the England team IF and only IF he had not spent so much time injured. Its a real shame for him and England/ Spurs. But the facts are he can't play more than one game a week without problems and this has cost him his place as being considered "one of the best of his generation" Sorry but thats the facts and it will mean he will never reach his full potential (like many other players) Paul Mc Grath is in a different league to him and TBH most of the central defenders I have seen since, most players that have played with him would tell you that, funny thing is he wouldn't agree, but thats Paul Mc all over.
  13. Why do you have a smaller ground? This is my point, its no good looking for facts on why you are in the media more, when there are no real hard facts that should count, other than your success or lack of. We are similar in most ways, other than the media,IMO, hyping Spurs more. You support Spurs and I support Villa, we ain't never gonna agree. Your team played well on Saturday and thats all I can bring myself to type.
  14. Watched it on TV today and the Ref had a very strange game TBH.
  15. Whats first the Egg or the chicken? You get smaller attendances and your perceived catchment area baffles, we are the only big team in an area of considerable population and in the biggest city in England, Google that one. Check the stats for viewers from the USA, we lead the table there............ Spurs fans are saying they should have won, why? Your attack was great apart from what, the finishing, or our defence playing very well? We had a few chances on goal, but nowhere near the amount Spurs did, so why did it finish 1-1, your defence being no good or our finishing being better? You can't have it both ways and neither can we, good luck for the season. PS Any chance of candle face dropping Huddlestone so we can have have him? Perhaps a swap for NRC? :winkold:
  16. well we sure as f*ck didnt deserve to win seeing as we had one attempt on goal over the 90 minutes and that was shinned over the line from 6 inches out via the post and two defenders. we had about 10 corners in the first half and the one we scored from ws the only one that young didnt put inch perfect on crouch's head. if football were boxing we would have lost by a unanimous points decision based on possession, passes completed, efforts on goal etc. The defender used his arm to push it of the line, Gabby should have just stood there and appealed, the lad would/should have been sent off! We lacked forward options when on the break, if we had some on form strikers the game would have been high scoring as Spurs defended so far up the pitch. The goal spurs scored should have been disallowed and thats a fact, just watch him dip his arm into it. Football is based on goals not fancy passes in your own half. oh is it? sorry i didnt realise that - i'm new to the game - i have only been watching it for the last 35 years. in that case i totally agree, lets lull the opposition into a false sense of security by playing absoloutly w*nk for 80 minutes of the game and then try and nick a jammy goal or blame the ref for not gifting us a winner or giving a 50/50 decision to the other team once in a while. the spurs goal WAS GIVEN AND THAT IS A FACT. i'm afraid that "it should have been disallowed" is actually an opinion - your opinion. my opinion is that it wasnt handball and therefore was a ligitimate goal. my opinion is also that we were lucky to get anything from the match and that spurs were the better team. spurs didnt make many fancy passes in their own half from what i saw. the second half was played almost exclusively in our half, with them in possession which means that despite the fact we were at home against a team considered our equal we were actually camped in our own box defending with our backs to the wall for half of the game. our first effort on goal was after 10 minutes when gabby scored. our second was in the 92nd minute. sidwell did miscue one horribly in between but i'd sooner call that a misplaced pass as it was so embarassing. pass my the paste please, i've just spotted another crack that needs papering over... They are not considered our equal, they are our equal, after all their goal was given and the final score was 1-1, despite opinions on how bad we played.
  17. well we sure as f*ck didnt deserve to win seeing as we had one attempt on goal over the 90 minutes and that was shinned over the line from 6 inches out via the post and two defenders. we had about 10 corners in the first half and the one we scored from ws the only one that young didnt put inch perfect on crouch's head. if football were boxing we would have lost by a unanimous points decision based on possession, passes completed, efforts on goal etc. The defender used his arm to push it of the line, Gabby should have just stood there and appealed, the lad would/should have been sent off! 18. Decent result from a bad performance from our attacking players, defence was awesome and deserved better TBH. We had a few break aways were we looked like startled rabbits when presented with chances, if Defoe would have been on our team we would have scored quite a few IMO, hes on fire. Dawson had a great game for Spurs and it has changed my opinion on him. Lennon was kept quiet by the two Youngs. Beye and Carlos were very solid, our MOTM was just about Carlos. Its a good job Gabby scored because the handball off the line from Spurs in the build up should have led to a sending off, Defoes hand ball IMOM deserved a yellow card and Dawson knew it hit his upper arm, from behind him you could see half the ball as he controlled it, but their overall play deserved it. Don't think either team will make the top 4 as it stands, we look pretty tame going forward and Spurs looked vulnerable to the counter attack. We need another proven forward.
  19. Would rather see Jenas play from a Villa point of view, Huddlestone has the passing ability to thread balls through our defence for Keane/ Defoe to run onto. Very hard to call this game TBH, depends which teams turn up from both sides as both seem to be to inconsistent to break the top 4 ATM, perhaps this game will change that? Got some great English talent on show, form both teams and IMO between us we should make up more than half of the England team. Think we will stay the same as as the last game, accept Heskey for Carew, Downing will come on after 60 minutes+. Our fans will be really up for this and I have a feeling the late kick off time will help with the atmosphere in this one, lets shouts our f****n heads off. Prediction, first instinct says 5-5, so my prediction is 0-0. UTV
  20. IMO The UK pound will go in one direction, down, and at a faster rate than Gold over the next few years, the real problem with gold will be the capital gains tax.
  21. IMO Huddlestone could be a great player, you can train fitness but not technique and he has that in abundance. Dawson is a bit like a young Dunne, not very good when the balls played behind him and liable to a few games that are shocking. Really looking forward to this game now, Villa have nothing to lose IMO. Our players have lots to prove, Young, Milner, Heskey and Gabby versus Lennon, Defoe and Crouch. PS I do not relish Defoe running at Dunne, but would love to see Gabby running at Dawson. Up the Villa!
  22. 1-9 says more about Wigan than it does Spurs TBH. Lennon and Defoe were on fire though and will need a few kicks on Saturday.
  23. We should only use video replays for contested goals/Penalties and for contesting a sending off. This way the game would not be stopped and started every couple of minutes. England seem to have suffered more than most with controversial decisions and I have no doubt that we will suffer again, probably in next years world cup.
  24. Its all very well taking the opinion that a refs mistake is part of the game, perhaps its not a mistake, perhaps decisions are given to suit the situation. Maybe some refs are crooked? Its would not be the first time it had happened. We need accountability from these refs and officials, if replays can be used, then they should be. The option of ignoring the problem will lead to more 'mistakes' and more shame brought on our game. What happened last night to Ireland was a massive injustice, not just to the Irish but to Football. How can anyone watching that incident not feel nothing but despair for a game that has sunk so low. It will be very interesting to hear what Mr Platini thinks about his countries disgraceful victory. If I was in the Sports Media field I would be camped outside his house for a comment, IMO he has nowhere to go with this and his head should be hanging in disgrace.
  25. The fight for Englands right side should be between Milner and Lennon, Walcott is injury prone and has had no time to gain any form, Beckham would be a waste of a squad place and SWP.......... Milner and Lennon offer completely different qualities IMO. With 20 minutes to go 1-0 down I would like Lennon on the pitch, with Glen Johnson at right back and to start a game I would prefer Milner. TBH, I suspect Capello may well feel the same. Lennon has had seasons of under achievement at Spurs, when Bentley was signed it looked like Lennon's time to move had arrived, he has, to his credit raised his game and kept Bentley out of the Spurs team. Milner has had less than a year at Villa and in that time he has forced his way into the England squad and IMO was our best player against Brazil, despite being played on the left side. Its early days, but IMO Milner has more to offer, if I had to pick one of them it would be him.
