  1. I would say it's unlikely that any current manager will still be in post in 24 months time! (However, they clearly went for Howe as a stop gap imo and he impressed beyond any expectations...it would not surprise me if they pull the trigger early and try to get a name, like Poch, in if they are available.)
  2. I've seen a couple of pre-season Forest matches and their record signing striker looks a cabbage. I'd be surprised if he does well. #WesleyPartDeux

    Matty Cash

That was a really good battle to watch in that match, Barnes Vs Cash. Barnes was on top to start, think he scored actually, and it was testament to Cash's character that he just kept getting back at him and ended up winning the fight between them and closing off that avenue of attack.
  4. Meh. It's the way we need to work now. Make/buy good youth products and sell for a hefty profit. Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City have been selling fringe players for £15m for years (somehow) We've snatched many youth players from other teams so we can't really grumble at a bigger fish doing it to us. As long as we get the money in for anyone that is taken from us then that can be reinvested and the cycle continues.
  5. Again, I don't really think there's even a place for a 'conversation' the ref should just trot over to the pitch side monitor and have another view himself without anyone else's input. However, hearing what the weasels say will be interesting when they've clearly covered a cock up as in the case of Jon Moss against Man City.
  6. As you say, he's bent a difficult chance against the post the he created himself and finished a chance very few would even get a shot away from. So in comparison with other strikers, he has benefits over them as well. I find him as frustrating as anything, and think he should be upgraded, but he does some decent work too. His touch is awful, and is a reason we come under the cosh/concede easily in transition as you pointed out. It just has to get better if we're to use this system well. A player like Firmino would be the type I'd look at. He'd get ten a season but add to the all round play. (One thing from that clip as well, Emi Martinez had an absolute stinker. All three straight through him.)
  7. Just imagine if we'd spent the Championship splurge on decent, well-scouted players.
  8. He was miles away last week but is a lot closer now.
  9. So Wimbledon's home kit is blue, and their away kit is....blue
  10. This is the big one for me. No one else should be in a ref's ear outside of saying 'check screen' and even then, the match referee needs to just be in the habit of doing that instead of waiting to be told.
  11. I agree, it seems the best the best option to go through the official routes. I quite liked the personal aspect of the donations mentioned in the previous post...but I think it's a valid point about the wealth potentially causing issues if it isn't used for a community project.
  12. This is a great read. Is there a way that multiple people could join in with this and set up a regular transfer through fund raising or donations? For example, do they have easy access to bank accounts?

    Cameron Archer

Does anyone know if Parrott has just joined Preston on loan from Spurs?
  14. I haven't kept up with the subs over preseason. Who has played more, Naka or Tim? Does it give an indication of how likely Tim is to stick around?
  15. I think any formation involving Bailey will be a lot more fluid that what has been suggested so far. Gerrard won't move away from 3 CMs, and I think he favours two 10s over two strikers. Bailey would play as one of those 10s but drifting wide right most of the time so appearing like a winger.
  16. Cash loves 'the battle', is technically solid enough. KKH seems the opposite, technically very VERY good but needs game time to develop the defending side of things. However, I would think he'd have less defending to do as he'd keep the ball better and give his opposite number more to think about defensively.
  17. He needs a clever striker with a good touch to pop it around with on the edge of the box in tight situations. Watkins won't do that. Ings can, but doesn't seem to be mobile enough to be in the right places often enough.
  18. Great player. I've always thought of him as a bit of a Rob Holding type duffer...but Callum can really play. What a strong choice of CBs we have. Carlos and Chambers to start imo.
  19. I think a big thing is the ability of our CMs to drive forward with the ball. Sanson did that really well in the second half. Ramsey did that really well for the whole of last year.
  20. We need to keep the ball as well as we can when we play this narrow, especially in the forward areas. Watkins just doesn't allow us to do that. All Ramsey's and Coutinho's quick, sharp passes that could open up space with a one-two just don't come back. Having EMI involved as well would make that work a lot more effectively.
  21. Giving a good Targett impression so far in this friendly. Getting caught at the back post when defending and pulling a lot of his crosses back behind our forward runs instead of playing in front of them. Hopefully just a blip in crap conditions on a poor pitch...
  22. Baaaad for the second Man U goal.
