  1. this is where I am. Would've preferred to see Sanson on the bench too.
  2. if they don't go, then I'd assume they won't have any wiggle room for new signings? i think their big issue is Rodgers. He's clearly been unhappy with no signings, and I've seen a ton of speculation that he might be the first to go (and he'll just walk away). If that happens, I wouldn't be surprised to see them closer to the relegation battle than the top 4/6 battle.
  3. absolutely not. we already signed Kamara and I'd rather iroegbunam get the minutes than some guy who used to play for us and is 32.
  4. think they're pretty light at striker. Only Wilson and Wood, and Wilson is going to get injured at some point
  5. Chelsea and United apparently both going after Benjamin Šeško........ Saw that it might for 55m
  6. whilst I agree with you, I don't really see them as outsiders. I think they are one of, if not the favorite to go outside the 3 newly promoted squads
  7. Not sure what others think, but I wouldn't be opposed to shifting him on instead of Hause. To me, he's easily the 4th CB now, and I wouldn't be surprised if we were looking around the market next summer. Would it make sense to cash in on him and keep Hause (I know that Hause is limited, but he does something better than the rest of our CBs, heading). Now, I'm probably talking nonsense but just a thought
  8. that's the conundrum of FFP these days. Youth team sales has allowed Chelsea and City to have a lot more financial flexibility when signing starting XI players. It's all good if we are looking to become that type of team that consistently is known for promoting youth into the first team, but that likely means we won't be competing for top 6. Getting in at the right time and selling players for more than they are worth is how we advance up the PL food chain, and youth players are generally mostly a part of it
  9. Yes that’s a very good replacement option
  10. Also, apparently wants to go by Mick, not Michael
  11. Outside of the elite of the elite strikers, there's just a shortage of good to great strikers out there. Outside of Tottenham, every PL team could use an upgrade at the position (and even then, they signed Richarlson for 50m). Arsenal signed Gabby Jesus We could upgrade Ings/Watkins Brentford could be needing a Tony replacement, and signed KLP Bournemouth are testing out the old Dom Solanke PL experiment again Brighton are apparently using their striker who was the Belgian league golden boot winner last year Chelsea loaned Lukaku back and don't really have a replacement Crystal Palace have a collection of strikers who are useful but aren't a starting 9 PL quality day on day Everton - lost Richarlson and DCL gets injured a lot. Fulham - relying on Mitrovic yet again after 5 pl goals last time around Leeds - Bamford needs to be healthy, and yet he's not top PL quality Leicester - probably have the best group of strikers in the PL outside of Spurs, but Vardy is getting older and more injury prone Liverpool & Man City both spent big on a "elite" striker this summer Manchester United, who knows what happens with Ronaldo but they clearly have almost no depth up top after the events of the past year. Newcastle linked with Werner Nottingham Forest -- can't say with any confidence Southampton -- signed Sekou, young player with potential but unproven again West Ham- big money on Scamacca, only one prolific season in his career so far. Wolves-- no clue what they are doing with Jimenez looking a shadow of his former self after the nasty injury. Not convinced at all by Hwang Hee-chan I am not saying I don't want an upgrade on Ings/Watkins, but just setting the discourse for how empty the market is for those top-level strikers at the moment.
  12. might have a nibble as Tuchel first manager sacked.
  13. Yesterday, that ball was superb into Watkins, and with a better header, it's either forcing the GK into a save or a goal. A couple minutes beforehand, he cheaply gave the ball away which directly led to one of their best chances in the game. It's this frustrating inconsistency from high to low that irks me.
  14. I think what a lot of us saying/thinking is that he is good enough to be a role player in the squad, but not good enough to consistently be picked in the starting XI every week. This is the cause of frustration If I look at yesterday's starting XI, McGinn is easily the first name on the team sheet I would be looking to upgrade.
  15. I wonder if having the extra 2 subs is going to change how much we just rely on a starting XI... And I'd love to see all 4 of those start but I don't think we will sadly
  16. I think we are going to spend big on a new striker next summer (maybe in Jan if things with Watkins & Ings aren't going to plan) We don't really have squad space if we can't shift some of the fringe guys this year (El Ghazi, Hause, Nakamba, Traore, Sanson-- idk if I would put him here though) where we would be able to buy a few more players).
  17. I personally think we should focus on getting in the top half first as we haven't achieved that in more than a decade.
  18. if we are going to get Sangare, then I'd assume we are selling/loaning out 2 or more of: Tim/Nakamba/Sanson/Carney as I would not think that 9 midfielders would be realistic in a PL squad (assuming A Ramsey is loaned as well). I would be ecstatic with that signing, but then would Luiz really go on and sign another contract? How would Ramsey react?
  19. wouldn't it make more sense if it was Bailey over Watkins in that scenario?
