  1. If ever there was a man I wouldn't argue with, it's Pat Murphy. I've no idea what he looks like but in the interviews I've heard him conduct, he is very quick off the mark, does his homework and doesn't give an inch. (Not that I've yet heard the above interview yet).
  2. Much as I think Dyer is awful, he could only have improved the film. **** me that film must be terrible then However bad you're imagining it is, it's at least twice as bad as that
  3. To be fair, even while watching it I was thinking they must have been gutted not to have got him in for it. Much as I think Dyer is awful, he could only have improved the film.
  4. A friend of mine was Associate Producer on a movie recently. His first foray into film and he obviously loved every minute of it. It was all over his Facebook and twitter for months while they were in production, post and launch and he is clearly very proud of it. Out of curiosity, I watched it last week and it is an absolute turd of a film. I'm seeing him for the first time in ages soon so do I tell him honestly what I think or congratulate him on a job well done? This is the film, by the way. I do not recommend it, it's turgid:
  5. Geldof made it go away. the lives we could have saved if we'd known it was scared of matted hair and the whiff of arrogance More than a whiff to be fair. Having said that, I was in a meeting with him on the day he announced BandAid just before Christmas and he was hugely inspiring. Almost had me jacking in my job on the spot to go and work in Africa.

Much as I want to agree, I have to point out that Coutinho has been pretty good for the most part.
  7. Geldof made it go away.
  8. I wouldn't be so sure about that:
  9. OK, I'll see your Torygraph and raise you a Grauniad: Continues here: http://www.theguardian.com/education/2014/nov/18/tuition-fees-student-loans-must-change-higher-education-commission
  10. Time to buy another ShelterBox, I think. I'd encourage you to do the same, if you can. http://shelterbox.org
  11. That's the thing that concerns me most about modern politics. Politicians seem to think that the way to get votes is to buy them. A major factor of the independence debate was how each individual Scotch would personally benefit financially and lots of people were swayed by this. In this election, all the talk is about making the average hard working man better off. It's almost as if giving each person a fiver guarantees their vote. Unfortunately, for a good proportion of the electorate, it seems that this is enough to get their vote. What ever happened to voting in people on the basis of improving things for everyone?
  12. ManU fans latest installation on the anniversary of that slip:
  13. If Nursey's original story is correct, then we are their first choice with Albion as the fall-back option should we drop.
  14. Because they don't have many hardline supporters like Labour or the Tories. Because people are not used to coalition governments and ludicrously expected them to be able to deliver their entire manifesto. Because it has suited the Tory party and their friends in the media to make the Lib Dems the whipping boys of government to take the heat off their own performance. That's definitely part of it, but I think there's another part as well. I think a large number of LD supporters 5 years ago were of the view that they were a left leaning, "nice" party, who cared about the environment and the young and were pro europe and kind of open in outlook. Then they got into bed with the Tories and bad things happened. Bad things that LD voters most certainly didn't want to happen. People felt betrayed, basically, and the tuition fees thing has been such a weight on them, because it's like a beacon of that betrayal. Even though by and large its now seen that tuition fees were a good thing ...the reforms have not just helped universities, but they have done more for the poorest students ...and the evidence bears it out. Now there's a claim that needs substantiating!
  15. I love a bit of DIY but invariably I end up paying someone to come in and rectify the mess I've made. Best of both worlds.
  16. I wonder how many times he'll run out? (I've always wanted to join in these pun-runs)
  17. I hardly think living abroad, not speaking the language and wanting to come home after 10 months isn't committing. Aye, I guess your overseas sojourn lasted longer than your teaching career
  18. Can of worms there, Packo. The burgeoning Cunk fan club (of which I am one) will soon be engaged in a mortal battle with those numpties that don't find her funny (or at least not as funny as she used to be).
  19. The youth of today. Can't commit to anything for more than a few minutes
  20. Sounds like made up horse shit to me. I can't imagine Sherwood will be making any decisions until the end of the season, because until then he hasn't seen enough of the players and isn't even 100% certain what league we'll be in. And how can it be a 'done deal' outside of the transfer window anyway? It was at my Godfather's birthday meal, it was a friend of his who has a ST at Swansea. Said about them being in for him just before signing him ourselves, and said that it was pretty much a done deal. What struck me was the way that he said it so casually, rather than trying to sound ITK and show off. I'm only passing on what I was told, I'm not saying that it's 100%. Wow, I need to renew my season ticket if the club share info such as transfers with ST holders like that. Come on... How on Earth would he know? Not that I'm trying to back the story but Swansea is a much, much smaller place than Brum. The whole city takes an interest in the club and most people would know someone who has a direct connection with the club. I personally know two people who are on the payroll in different areas of the club so news does tend to spread a bit more freely than it would at somewhere like us.
