  1. Sounds very similar to me a couple of years ago. Infection (ignored) led to sepsis. All lifestyle-related, pre-diabetes, joint problems, picking up every bug doing the rounds. The good news is you don’t have to go hard at it to turn things around. I cut out most of the sugar, started doing a bit more exercise and cut back on the take-aways. Reversed the diabetes and although I’m still obese, I feel much better about my general level of health. With the relatively small amount of progress I’ve made, I’m actually enjoying eating more healthily and actually look forward to seeing my trainer. None of it is rocket science and the GP made me track everything with a coach through the Oviva app. I don’t think I learned anything I didn’t already know about my unhealthy lifestyle but it was helpful to have someone to hold me to account on the decisions I was making. Good luck with whatever you decide to do to tackle the issue.
  2. All this 6 Music chat and nobody has yet mentioned the worst? Mary Anne Hobgoblin. I don't want rave/trance music in the middle of the morning and genuinely can't imagine who does.
  3. I suspect Tammy's numbers might be (negatively) impacted by Roma's latest arrival.
  4. I love a good documentary. I don't think I've ever watched one that made me shout at the telly as much as this one though. Long story short - the protagonist (conman) pretends to set up a high school with an elite Football (gridiron) programme. He brings in all these young kids with promises of glory and exposure and then does them dirty. I think it's only available on Max(HBO) at the moment but I'm sure there would be other ways to find it (edited to add - suggestions it might be on Sky/Now already). Highly recommended.
  5. I'm hoping for a repeat of a couple of years ago where I saw a guy trying to gain access to our block of flats. I stopped him getting in, asked what he wanted and as he was trying to deliver Tory leaflets, I politely told him I'd take as many as he could spare so I could share them with my neighbours and put them up around work. He handed over most of what he had with a smile. I guess I'd done him a big favour handing out those leaflets for him. Straight in the recycling, obviously.
  6. Finished The Crowded Room today. Wasn’t what I thought it’d be but it was very good.
  7. I didn’t think Fiji were much cop today. England were abysmal though. If that’s what England fans have been being served up since Jones left, I almost feel sorry for them all.
  8. You do you. We lost my old mum two years ago and I was amazed at how my brother and sister and I all grieved in such very different ways. All of them were legitimate though. Take your time, talk if you want to talk. Get therapy if you think it’ll help (it’s the only thing that got me through it). Mostly, be kind to yourself. So sorry for your loss.
  9. British racists didn’t seem to have too much of a problem supporting the policies of Sue Ellen or Rishi.
  10. Look again. Focus on Ramaswamy.
  11. They said on the radio just now that she is so upset by it she is considering not playing for them anymore. I think saying sorry and moving on isn’t the answer here.
  12. Any kiss on the lips is creepy if it’s not a direct family member (and for some past VTers, even that’s creepy). Part of the issue is he said it was consensual whereas the recipient said it wasn’t. There is also the issue of him grabbing his crotch in celebration whilst stood next to the queen of Spain and her daughter.
  13. Last time I was there, I was on the back row of the top shelf. Half the pitch obscured by the scoreboard (which they'd blu-tacked two tiny telly's to the back of so we had an indication of what was going on in the bits we couldn't see. £125 a ticket. Absolute insanity, quite apart from the fact that it's generally impossible to find any tickets. Then again, it's England and that's not generally something I'm all that interested in ().
  14. Ha. Barnes is twice as far away as I am. I can get a wave from the pilots on the way in
  15. Bit out of the loop as I haven't seen much/any rugby for a while but I can't believe how many seats are still available for Saturday vs Fiji. Are England really that bad that nobody wants to watch them? I'll be there cheering on the Fijians.
  16. 20+ years directly under the flightpath into Heathrow. About 3 miles as the crow/A380 flies. 650 of them a day, mostly 45 seconds apart. I never notice them these days but always have spare earplugs for any friends and family visitors to ensure they get a decent night sleep.
  17. Ouch, I thought mine doubling was bad enough. Especially liked the bit where the letter said they were legally obligated to offer me a renewal rate that's the same as if I were a new customer. If I get a minute this weekend, I'll be checking out that suggestion.
  18. That moment when he feinted and sold it to the Hibs player who did a cartwheel past him was beautiful. Edit - It's not quite as devastating as I remember it but it's still pretty good - at the end of this clip:
  19. Guess there’s a lag on the BBCScotland feed then. Took two minutes to see the goal.
  20. Right lads. We kill @Straggler first. Sounds like he has all the kit we need to survive.
  21. This lad gets interviewed ahead of a Naaarch game, gets pelters on Twitter because, well, people are nobs. Within 24 hours the football community flood the post with positive and encouraging messages. As if that wasn’t enough, it becomes clear he is running a marathon for charity and he’s now had £23,000 in sponsorship. Restores your faith a bit. https://x.com/pinkun/status/1693194954552791301?s=46&t=Zth_a_EbTEMKOfTa0cJRbw Grrr. Twitter won’t embed.
