  1. Carsley is a very good coach but he’s always been clear that he doesn’t want a head coach role. He’s turned down several manager jobs from memory, always saying it’s not his desire to have that role as he prefers to coach youth and development. Of course, he might change his mind. Fingers crossed he doesn’t.
  2. Stewards enquiry. I had Burt Bacharach and Rolferoo.
  3. Phil Collins Mitch McConnell Celine Dion Pope Francis Roberta Flack
  4. Caught Sofia Coppola's Priscilla yesterday. Apart from an excellent performance from Cailee Spaeny, it was entirely forgettable. I'd presumed I'd learn something but the object seemed to be that she was a bit sad but she survived.
  5. My old man gets to open the first Christmas present every year. It's a roll of bin bags to save him having to run to the kitchen six minutes in to the unwrapping frenzy.
  6. Hipsters have probably moved on to Reindeer fat for this year.
  7. Good luck finding goose fat in the supermarket this close to Christmas. It was the one thing I was trusted to bring last year and all I found were empty shelves from mid-December.
  8. Finished Bodies and Murder at the End of the World this week. Both around the 6/10 mark. Just about worth persevering with, neither nearly as clever as they think they are.
  9. Latest series of Slow Horses is as enjoyable (3 episodes in for me so far) as the first two. The Oldman character is vaguely in danger of becoming a caricature but it’s still very good.
  10. Cuppa tea, slice of cake, comfy sofa and Wonka yesterday at Everyman. All enjoyed thoroughly. Not quite the film it could be but still very enjoyable.
  11. Clearly they know it’s a turkey as they are pulling out all the stops to market it. This was round the corner from our place this weekend. An “immersive experience” which we swerved.
  12. Scrooged tonight. Never gets old.
  13. I used to love a trip to Timmy’s way back when I used to be in Canada a lot. It’s pretty poor over there these days but still a million times better than the slop they serve up in the franchises over here.
  14. Skim-read that post. Something about a cat and an old man fingering something. Specsavers visit required for me, I think.
  15. If I'm going to die because of a giant wheel, I'm fairly sure it''ll be a giant wheel of cheese.
  16. You can bet that when he does have the massive heart attack, his base will be claiming exactly this.
  17. Hiding things in the house for the other half. She tells me she’s very observant so I sneak things in to see if she notices (kw). After a recent trip, I printed off all the selfies she made must take onto little one inch square magnets. Anything and everything that a magnet will stick to had a tiny photo of me and her stuck to it. It made me laugh, it made her sigh. Still took her five weeks to find them all and she has no idea of she’s got them all or not. Oh and her carefully curated Christmas tree also has some new ornaments. One of a mooning Santa and one a cat licking his bum. I’m a 50 year old man who hides nonsense around the house for nothing but my own amusement.
  18. Actress Marisa Pavan. Quite the looker back in the day.
  19. That's the one I was trying to get to last night. Knew someone would manage it.
  20. Saw this Friday with her indoors and two friends. I don’t think I’ve seen a film that divided opinion so much. I loved it, she liked it but felt it had too many gaps and the other two were didn’t like and hate. I initially presumed their negative opinions were just because it wasn’t their kind of film but they’re smart people who understand film and their objections were understandable, even if I didn’t share them. We had a spirited debate about it but it was a really good reminder that art isn’t always about good or bad, it’s about perception, personal experience, individual taste and a whole bunch of other factors.
