  1. Tielemans (like many players) is running his contract down and will probably go on a free next summer as a squad player for the likes of Liverpool, Bayern etc. If he's on a free next summer at 25 years old he will get 200k+ per week +. With no fee it amortises great for the club who sign him and he gets double his worth salary-wise. At 28/29 they can sell him and recoup most if not all the wages. For us, Kamara, if we pay him 180k a week for 3 years then sell him for 40million we've actually made a profit on his total services including wages.
  2. Our target should absolutely be "best of the rest" If we are close to that, then fine (West Ham will be hard to budge). If we are in the bottom half, with this squad then serious questions need to be asked.
  3. I was a huge fan until the whole Chelsea Barca Champions league game was clearly fixed.
  4. Man City Liverpool Tottenham Arsenal Chelsea West Ham Man Utd Aston Villa Newcastle Wolves Leicester Crystal Palace Brighton Soton Everton Forest Leeds Brentford Fulham Bournemouth
  5. I can't understand some fans almost negativity towards our window. "I'd be disappointed if we didn't sign a new midfielder, striker" etc. Even if we don't sign anyone else, we've had an absolutely spectacular window. CL quality, proven centre back. French International DM - widely acknowledged as one of the premier talents in Europe. Madrid just paid 80 million for a player on a similar trajectory. Philipe effin Coutinho on a permanent. Augustinsson - Backup fullback / international
  6. Cooper is a good manager. They've made some decent signings, but I still only give them a small chance of staying up. We had a good manager, the likes of Grealish, Mcginn, Mings and only just stayed up by the skin of our teeth. It's a completely different level.
  7. He is an absolute freak / world class athlete with average footballing abilities.
  8. Barca have a wonderful way of buying players for 50-150million and not actually paying for them. They still owe 100s and 100s of millions on transfer fees. I read they still owe Liverpool 30million for Coutinho. Will come back to seriously bite them in the future as clubs just won't allow their players to go there. Leeds are desperate to sell Raphina elsewhere, Bayern are saying Barca need to pay upfront for Lewandowski.
  9. None of them get in the Man City, Liverpool or Chelsea team. Controversially, I think only Bissouma gets in our first team.
  10. Every manager is under pressure any time a team doesn't win in 4/5 games. Gerrard more so because of the backing he's had. Owners have backed Gerrard with Digne, Coutinho, Kamara, Carlos and Chambers (all on high wages). Regressing, or hovering around 12-16 will not be acceptable this season.
  11. Very good chance he could be our next manager if Gerrard doesn't get off to a good start
  12. Majority of injuries are stress related. Even if he was 50% fit he played every single game for Leeds, same as Grealish with us; eventually the body breaks down. City's squad is so good, even with a niggle they can rest him, therefore reducing the possibility of a proper injury.
  13. They seem to be replacing them with £10-20 million players from Austria, Belgium etc. As we've found out, players absolutely tearing apart those leagues often struggle in the PL. They must be 3/4 favourites for the drop.
  14. Appears the owner borrowed £5 million from West Brom to "loan" to another business, and already pushed the repayment data back BBC Website
  15. I think it's Levy. He's shown it with the Conte and Mourinho appointments, of which neither care about 3/4 years time; they are all about win and quickly. Levy has presided Spurs from a mid table team / best of the rest to a CL team with huge commercial potential and a world class stadium. All he needs is a trophy to retire into the sunset.
  16. Cant believe people are moaning about the potential aesthetics to be honest. We finally have owners who are increasing the capacity at Villa park and "filling in" the gaps around a new North Stand.
  17. Owners don't have a choice. Buy 4/5 first team players or for certain they will go down next season. Both Bournemouth and Fulham have PL experience and will push the 35 point mark in my opinion.
  18. I don't think anyone at UEFA or FIFA cares about logistics, deaths of workers, football and most definitely the fans. The financial push of 3/4 countries is greater than 1. It's all about how they / their sponsors make the most money. Anything else, like football, deserving nations etc is completely irrelevant.
  19. Burnley is a bit of a free hit for him. If they don't get promoted, well the team has been demolished this summer and will "take time" to rebuild. But he will also have a huge budget by championship standards due to parachute payments + a few players like McNeil who will absolutely tear up the championship.
  20. TBH Earlier this season, except for Son / Kane, on paper there wasn't a massive difference in quality between the squads (Dier, Emerson, Davies, Hojberg, Winks, Doherty, Bergjin etc). It's just Conte is an absolute world class manager who has revitalised 4/6 of those, and added 2 really smart signings. Dier, Emerson and Davies would have got nowhere near our first team 6 months ago. Now they walk into it. That's down to Conte.
  21. Problem position signed for "free". (Sure he made a sizeable signing bonus) Providing we raise around 40/50 million (El Ghazi, Trez, Targett, Guilbert, Keinan + maybe 1or 2 youngsters), we could easily spend another 100 million., for a 50million net spend. Thinking an elite CB will be on the shopping list. Exciting times.
  22. In the leveraged buyout Burnley effectively took an interest only loan for 60 million, secured against TV rights. There’s a clause meaning if relegated they need to repay either 40 or 60 million in 12 months. They’ll probably refinance that again at an extortionate rate, which with the championship FFP will be like a millstone. Add to that 10 players out of contract, even with parachute payments it might be a while before we see them again.
