  1. It won’t archer isn’t on the bench. Maybe he has pulled a sicky after seeing the same shit again from this manager
  2. I think we have very smart people owning us but I do wonder about the people below them. Purslow is seemingly doing some good stuff but his unreserved commitment to gerrard is undoing all the good work. I can accept the gerrard appointment because it’s a risk appointing any manager but good leaders are able to work out when they need to let things ride and when they need to act decisively based on the evidence before them and the time is now or a few weeks ago. Although for me it was actually at the end of last season for me from what I saw.
  3. I agree completely with this but the other thing I would add is slow on the ball too. We needed to get the ball moving quickly against forest and by the time we did get moving they were back in shape and we went side to side between luis mings and konsa without ever looking like finding a gap, it was painful and very boring to watch. also he is so predictable in the giving away of stupid free kicks in potentially dangerous areas.
  4. How does a manager with buendia, Phil luis, mcginn and Ramsey have do little quality. The movement is so poor it’s just people standing still. Why can’t one make an angle and have 2 players moving to take a lay off and get us moving between the lines. so far this is more absolute shite as usual
  5. Funny comment from hinchcliffe saying just need a bit more quality second half. We have none and Leeds are a championship side and not even a good one so no idea where that might come from. however if I had to pick one I’d say Leeds will shithouse a 1-0 from running around.
  6. I like Declan Rice he seems like a decent lad and he certainly is a good player but that’s a very silly quote. The is zero evidence to suggest England will be good under Southgate of the back of no goals from 5 games and hardly a shot either
  7. I know this is the Phillips thread but i am glad someone else has said they find watching Man City boring! I hate watching city or any other side pass everybody to sleep it just doesn’t entertain me. The sky commentators will tell you it’s the greatest thing your eyes will ever see (I guess they don’t use pornhub) but for me it’s boring to watch even when they are 2-0 down because you know they will probably win 3-2
  8. I really think what Southgate is doing in picking favourites just supports and ingrains the apathy a lot of people have for England. We know it’s a boys club and always has been so Southgate fits the bill perfectly, let’s be fair that’s how he got the job in the first place. Supporters are not stupid and picking maguire, shaw and Phillips is an absolute insult to the intelligence of any fan and you can also feel the press turning too with squads like this.
  9. To be fair the is a few like that. Harry maguire hasn’t played in a month at Utd because the new boss has realised very quickly he is at best very average yet not getting a game for your club is less important than being at a big club in Southgate eyes. Just look at jack, Phillips, maguire and shaw all players that have hardly kicked a ball this season because managers don’t think they are good enough yet the England manager had more or less given them all a ticket to the most elite completion in the world.
  10. It is interesting how Southgate basically sold him to Man City for us with his nonesense about needing to be involved in the champions league and big games! I assume he meant watching from the bench and taking in the atmosphere (I know he started last night but won’t again after that performance). The same could also be said for Phillips as well who 8 weeks before the start of the World Cup has made zero starts since joining city and probably won’t make many because he is way down the pecking order. Good stuff Gareth these players really are improving at city. I think most people thought it was the wrong move for jack given the managers style of play but it’s embarrassing how poor he looks in this team. He looks like a competition winner or that lad that comes for a trial and gets thrown in with all the established players.
  11. Overall I’m pleased with the performance today. Interestingly thought we improved with cash and Mcginn going off. I have been critical of gerrard for lack of a proper plan but credit today was a performance with a plan in my mind. Although we always seem to put in better performances albeit usually in a plucky defeat against the better sides. What we can’t tolerate is a poor set of performance in the next few games, back to having no plan again. We must use this as a spring board otherwise we will be back to gerrard out again
  12. Chris Sutton spotted Gerarrds shit tactics within 5 minutes
  13. It’s a pub league where he had the best players for probably all but 2 games of the season
  14. The pundits do piss me off with the will turn it around and give him time. We operate in a league were having time doesn’t exist which is why elite managers (Conte for example) go to average sides and pick them up straight away and average mangers Steal money while improving nothing and in our case making is worse. the biggest worry for me is that I don’t see with the current set up in place a way of turning it around and what further damage will be so before he goes. I think the mings captaincy shambles will have a bigger impact than he realised by creating a problem where one didn’t exist
  15. I’m not sure when a Villa manager has been blessed with the attacking talent we have available to us at the moment but I’m also not sure I’ve seen a side looking less likely to score or break a side down. Tactically gerrard is either to inept to notice how poor we are or to arrogant to accept it. I do agree though that purslow won’t sack him, this is the one manger we should sack but he will stick with him despite his record which is now pathetic.
  16. And why are they well set up? The manager setting them up properly with a game plan and tactics. We have a manger incapable of that because he thinks everybody in our squad is as good as he was and there not and he can’t get his head around that. Not having a go by the way but seeing sides well organised as a reason for out playing us makes me angry because your right but this is our mangers job! He literally gets paid a fortune to ensure we are organised and know what we are doing. Feels like that mega training ground must have been a waste of money because we clearly aren’t using it
  17. He won’t I agree but can anyone see him getting on the bench ahead of say Gallagher or loftus cheek ? And if he does will he ever get on the pitch
  18. A lot of blame has to lie with the glaziers but watching Neville and redknapp yesterday something Neville said interested me when he was on about the stadium etc was that they had £350 million in the bank three years ago and now they are down to £30 million. Is that suggesting that they are now not making the money they used to be? I think Utd are a victim of their own size because they are almost unbuyable with the figures the glaziers would to see the club. Add the near billion in debt and rising its not as appealing as it once was. Side note why does Gary Neville get to use sky sports as his own Utd podcast
  19. And has played 12 games or so in the premier league. He might turn out to be a world beater but he might also be a loftus cheek style player that’s stuck with Chelsea and got to 26 and not even got close to 100 games. Either way the lack of games I think he will get are not our problem anymore
  20. Fairly simple for me if he isn’t going to sign which looks likely we pop him in to the lowest level of training we have to do we don’t waste anymore money on developing him for someone else. we can concentrate on developing lads that do want to play for us and he can ponder how he gets into Barcelona’s team while not getting any development for a year. remember we owe this lad nothing and he owes us nothing however I just don’t see how he gets into a side higher up the food chain given the 14 or so games he has played
  21. Welcome to mens football son. Nothing much in the challenge for me
  22. I completely agree. At 18 hardly started a premier league game, if you get a decent contract offer from your current established premier league club you sign it and carry on your development because the club clearly rate you and if they didn’t they wouldn’t waste money paying your wages. The attitude to the contract offer by him is one of a player who has played 50+ games preformed well and has a que of suitors at his door. He does not as far as I am aware so could potentially wast a year of what isn’t a very long career because he rates himself more than anyone else does.
  23. I just can’t see it. I think Bielsa did a phenomenal job of making what is a mid table championship team with 2 very good players (both of whom will not be there next season) massively over perform. He knew that ran them into the ground to the point that it stopped working and went at the right time for him before it all went completely wrong. my personal view is take out Phillips and raphina they had and still have a bottom 3 squad. My opinion under bielsa was that if you don’t match the running you will get beaten and a few lazy sides did but match the work rate and the reality of how bad copper, ayling, glick, bamford, James, etc really are became very obvious.
  24. To fair jukewicz is younger than deeney but that’s a fairly shocking front 3 probably all on the highest wages at the club too. Jukewicz does annoyingly have a tendency to get them a goal in games they really should lose so I would say he has probably kept them up the last few years
