  1. Play the reserves. The fixture list is bad enough already. We will never win the FA Cup again, we all know that. I don't even think being runners up to a European qualified team gets you a place in the Europa now, so in all probability its better for the top 4 teams to win the cups and hope 6/7th gets you Europe. That's modern football for ya.
  2. James would probably have to take a pay cut if he moved to Villa. Can't see that happening.
  3. We do need another forward. Watkins has been good given its his first season at the top level but you can't expect him to carry all the load. It is the one area that we need to improve on. In the 53 games back in the top flight our forward line has scored 15 goals and that is including Traore who isn't a out and out striker. In comparison our midfield has scored 41 goals and our defence 12 goals. Stating the bleedin obvious but without Jack last season we would have gone down. It is a good sign that all departments of the team are chipping in with goals and yes last season was a nightmare up front with Wes getting injured and Samatta not working out but still.
  4. He ain't leaving. His is our captain and is playing the best football of his life. He is loving it. Every year the pundits state he will leave Villa. They know sh*t. blah blah blah.
  5. Wow a whole 12 months out for Wes. Its been a long, long, time.
  6. Has to get game time out on loan. You can't really judge him on 10-15 minute run outs. We need to bring in another forward in Jan and send him on loan to a championship club. It's a bit frustrating to watch Davies as he has all the attributes for a big forward, apart from goal scoring.
  7. Konsa is probably the better defender and Mings is the better leader and distributor of the ball. Its is one of the best partnerships in the league. Players go up and down in form. Chillax.
  8. Being disappointed that we lost at Old Trafford shows how far we have improved this season. (Though we did draw up there last season)
  9. Looks like Tyrone is turning into this seasons scapegoat.
  10. That still makes more sense than us appointing Mcleish.
  11. Condolences to the family. Before my time but a larger than life character who had some successes on the way at Chelsea and post Busby United. Always spoke well about the Villa as I think he had been coached by Jimmy Hogan as a youth player at Celtic. Although the results were not that impressive by all accounts he helped Villa turn around at least by getting people back to Villa Park.
  12. So if they do this circuit breaker I fail to see how they then can finish the season in time for the Euros. This will leave probably to a squabble between the big leagues in Europe versus UEFA. The format is mad anyway with multiple cities across the continent which will just spread Covid unless we are all vaccinated by the summer. The only other alternative I could see if move the Euros to summer 2022 and have the world cup in Qatar run at the same time as the leagues in the winter but I cannot see FIFA allowing that. If none of that happens then perhaps the FA cup will get suspended for this season and just play the league right up to early June but it will be chaos.
  13. People don't want facts. They want opinions. That answers the above and Brexit.
  14. Its 7 years and counting since they last won the league but its still ABU for me clive. It's just the years of Fergie time and plastic reds which I can't forget.
  15. The fact of the matter is that Lampard would have got nowhere near the Chelsea job if he had not been a club legend. One okay season at Derby is hardly the level required for Chelsea.
  16. Love the bloke. One of our best signings ever. A natural winner.
  17. I am getting a bit of the 95/96 vibe this season. Minus the League Cup.
  18. Last 48 hours the football world has now realised that this is a very good Aston Villa side. Proud of the boys, Deano, coaching staff and the management.
  19. Deano has outwitted Lamps once before at Wembley, why not again.
  20. I know. I just don't know if I have it in me anymore to have another Turkey sandwich.
  21. Well Kalinic is deficiently surplus to requirements and Heaton is above Steer as the second choice. Depends if he thinks that is good enough for him at this stage of his career.
